Here are some '67's at the track today...

The SAAC website states the = Concours Judging and Popular Vote Car Show are both on Saturday;

But I've heard from a very reliable source that the Concours Judging is Friday and the Popular Car Show is Saturday!

Yet another variation on the '67 Shelby's - they seem to be never ending.

This is in regards to the Nose Support/License Plate Bracket, a Shelby specific part that had some changes over the production run.

There were two gauges of steel used the earlier version(s) where heavier gauge (don't have that gauge difference handy at the moment).

The two more easily seen differences are the vertical end plates, early cars had holes in them and the later (majority) did not. 

The second visual difference is the style of the license plate bracket that is welded to the support bracket.  Very early have two support brackets jutting forward to the actual bracket the license plate attaches to.  There is a drawing dated 10 12-66. Later  about a month (11-12-66), this bracket became a one-piece plate with a 90 degree bend to attach the license plate to.

The repro versions available are typically the thinner gauge material, without the holes in the end plates and the solid license plate bracket.

In Hemming's Classic Car the July 2019 issue, page 100, "Reminiscing" is the brief ownership account of Leif Ortegren's time with the Cobra that had been converted to have a Jet engine. 

Footnotes on the car on page 339 of the newest Leaf Spring Cobra Registry is a very interesting read.

Have purchased a rear hatch for a daily-driver and a another SAAC member was kind enough to get it from the salvage yard (they do not ship) and has it at his place which is east of San Francisco.

Is anyone in that area coming east to attend SAAC 44 and has room in their truck, van or trailer to transport this?  I will compensate "dead Presidents".

The hatch measures about 52 x 38 x 12 and weighs about 70 lbs.

All the '67 Shelby's got this piece regardless of which grille version they have.  It goes over the lowest edge of the bottom of the grille to prevent the grille from damaging the paint.  See images below without and with.

I had a mold made to reproduce the '67 Shelby Headlight Bucket Grommets that are in the back of each of the 4 headlight buckets.  On many cars these are missing or very hard and tear when taking them out for restoration.

These new parts are very accurate and even have the "69" with a line under it on the one side as well as the split, see attached image. The mold and parts were made in the USA.

2 Grommets $30.00 includes shipping in the Continental the USA.
4 Grommets $50.00 includes shipping in the Continental the USA.
Each car uses 4, one for the back of each headlight bucket (additional shipping charges for out of the Continental US). Additional grommets, over 4, at same time of order are $12.00 each.

This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 was sold new at Ed Martin Ford of Indianapolis and is said to have been parked from 1976 until 2014. It was purchased by Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage in 2017 and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2018. The car is powered by a 428ci Police Interceptor V8 paired with 3-speed automatic transmission and finished in Wimbledon White over a black interior. Factory options include a 3.50:1 rear axle, power steering, power disc brakes, extra cooling package, Sport Deck rear seat, tilt-away steering wheel, AM radio, shoulder harnesses, and tachometer. A new starter, ignition component, fuel line, and exhaust parts were installed in 2018. This GT500 is offered by the selling dealer in South Carolina with a build and order sheets, a dealer invoice, a 1974 Indiana license plate, stock parts, an Elite Marti Report, and a clean Texas title.

This 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 was delivered new to Dockery Ford of Morristown, New Jersey and reportedly retained by its original owners until 2010, when it was sold to a New Hampshire collector and placed in storage. The car is finished in Night Mist Blue with white stripes over black knit vinyl upholstery and powered by a 428ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It was acquired by the selling dealer in 2017 and freshened in 2018 with a new radiator, spark plugs, battery, fluids, braking components, and more. This GT500 is reportedly recognized by the Shelby Registry and is offered in California with a Deluxe Marti Report as well as a clean New Hampshire title.

Lime Gold is the original color according to the Marti Report, and the car is believed to have been repainted in its current Night Mist Blue in the early 1980s. The seller notes that the finish has weathered poorly and shows a number of imperfections. Cosmetic features include white Le Mans racing stripes, chrome bumpers, and outboard grille lights.

Aluminum 10-spoke wheels wear older Viper TR Radial GT tires that the seller notes are in need of replacement. Braking is from powered discs equipped from the factory up front and drums at the rear, and the seller notes that the system was refreshed in January 2018.

The black interior features knit vinyl upholstery and matching carpets. Factory options include a folding Sport Deck rear seat, shoulder harnesses, courtesy light group, and interior decor package.

Additional equipment consist of power steering and an AM radio as well as an optional tachometer and trip odometer. The 5-digit odometer is said to show 73k miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 428ci Police Interceptor V8 is equipped with a dual-quad carburetor setup and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller reports that the car was refreshed in January 2018 after being housed in long-term storage, with the work reportedly including installation of a new radiator, spark plugs, battery, and engine mounts as well as carburetor rebuilds, a cooling system refreshment, and fluid changes.

Some corrosion is noted underneath the car, and additional images of the undercarriage are available in the gallery below.

The Deluxe Marti Report lists original equipment and delivery at Dockery Ford of Morristown, New Jersey.

Was going through some of my dad's Pantera stuff and came across this Pantera and Capri aftermarket parts brochure.

Has anyone ever seen one of these?  It's 12 pages, black & white, with blue and red on the front & back cover.

Can some of you help Identifying the source of this Weber intake for a Pantera?

The guy that bought my dad's '72 Pantera is trying to find out who made these. 

(He also needs some help with tuning the carbs (48 IDA's) but that's another topic.)

He sent me a photo I couldn't find of how the rear deck lid and top grille was modified.

Intake has DETOMASO PANTERA cast in the top and "507 01 007 - 1" cast into it too.

A local Car Show (started by some buddies as fund raiser for the Kidney Foundation in honor of the Father of one of the guys) had a photo shoot to develop some promotional posters for the event.  They asked for a Shelby and the owner of a early Black GT350 was able to bring his car.  (it won Gold at SAAC 41)

There were a number of rare and beautiful cars on hand.

There was a thread on the old forum, will start a new one here.

Standard Ford Mustang, San Jose items for a '67 Shelby with 10-spokes or Hub caps/Wheel Covers.

The Wrench has a 13/16" end on the wrench - cast bell end with stamped steel handle with end to pry off wheel cover on the other end.  The top item in the composite image below. 

The '67 Shelby's with the Kelsey Hayes Mag Star's used different lug nut that are 3/4".  This caused some issue as some cars did not get the correct sized wrench and there was a memo written regarding this.  There is a 3/4" wrench that looks the same but has a smaller cavity on the bell end, these are not easily found and many have bought or been sold the wrong wrench.  The handle end is the as the other and I believe judges prefer that it not have any holes in it, although there may have been some difference of thought on that others will know better.  (The version with holes was for Corvettes as I understood it.)

The three different wheels (Mag Star, 10-Spoke aluminum and steel) each used a different lug nut, see image below.

The standard Ford Mustang jack has a 13/16 nut on scissor jack, the Mag Star version has a 3/4" nut.  Marcus Anghel and Bruce Klier did a great multi-page PDF summary on Ford jacks and hopefully he or someone else can re-attach it to this thread.  There were some differences of opinion on the San Jose Jacks and I'll let others expound on that. 

The Jacking Instructions typically went on the underside of the trunk lid on a Mustang BUT since the Shelby's were shipped without a trunk lid to Los Angeles the sticker was in one of two places; on the back of the trap door or on the raised section under the spare, see attached images.

This was on the old SAAC Forum. Since there have been some intakes posted for sale lately and there were so many variations of Aluminum Shelby (Cobra) 4-barrel intakes made it's hard to know what's what at times.  Here is the last version trying to cover the variations of some (there are more) that were made.
