1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Traction Bar Bracket
February 15, 2021, 12:35:26 PM
I believe the traction bar bracket welded to the frame rail is painted flat black.  Was it masked off when painted, or just painted with overspray?

Thanks,

Greek

Appeals / Vent Window Frame Pivot

Has anyone had the chrome pivot on the vent window frame rechromed?  Unable to find someone to do it.  Any suggestions?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Hood Latch
August 27, 2020, 02:03:37 PM
I believe the hood latch is a phosphate and oil finish.  Has anyone had theirs chemically finished?  If so, was the spring damaged from the process?  Looking to finish mine with the correct finish.

Thanks,

I do not have the Chassis Assembly Manual for 1966, but the 1967 Manual indicates the steering box and idler arm bolts and "D" washer are steel, not phosphate and oil.  Would this be true for 1966 as well?

Thanks,

Greek

I think this hanger bracket was originally bare steel and the nuts phosphate and oil.  Am I correct?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Sway Bar Finish
July 15, 2020, 09:04:02 PM
I did a search on this Forum and the Concour Mustang Forum and did not find an answer.  Maybe I did not have the correct wording.  It seems to me there was a thread on the old Forum about the correct finish.  My memory recalls maybe the finish was how it looked after manufacture, similar to the coil springs.  Is this correct?  Or, were they phosphate and oil?

Thanks,

What is the finish on the alternator pulley nut and lock washer?  I looked in the 1966 and 1967 assembly manuals and cannot seem to find the finish.  Mine seem to be; lock washer zinc or cad, and nut natural.  Any help is appreciated.

Appeals / Water Pump Rebuilder
June 29, 2020, 02:05:51 PM
Anyone know of a reputable rebuilder?  I would like to get my C6OE-A water pump rebuilt.  I am in California, but not opposed to shipping out of state.

I purchased a new 5/16" Marti Auto Works Concours Fuel Hose kit from NPD yesterday.  Cut a short length when I reinstalled the carburetor on my '67 GT-350.  The hose leaked badly.  I checked the hose I.D. with that of a generic 5/16" I.D. hose purchased from NAPA.  The NAPA hose is visibly smaller and fits much tighter.  I am using the spring clamps, not the crimp ones.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems with these fuel hose kits.

While 1134 is at the painters I might as well clean and detail the steering components.  Not sure of the correct finish for tie rods, nuts, center link, adjusting sleeves, and clamps.  I am thinking all these components were phosphate and oil or natural steel, maybe a combination of both.  Hopefully, someone can give me the correct finish for these components.

Thanks,

Have been trying to find new mounting kits for my front Koni shocks.  Have called Koni several times have left messages, but no one ever calls back.  Maybe they have limited staff due to the shutdown.  Tried their website, put in the part numbers and get nowhere.  Anyone have a source that might have them?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Hood Painting Question
June 05, 2020, 11:00:49 PM
When the painter is ready to put color on the hood, I am fairly sure there should be a faint dusting of color on the underside.  What I am not sure of if they masked off the scoop inlet, or was there color over spray there as well.

Thanks,

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / 6S1134 On Its Way
May 21, 2020, 11:18:57 AM
After 15 plus years of collecting parts, 1134 is finally on its way to be stripped and repainted.  Not sure what lies under four coats of paint.  Hopefully, there will be no surprises.  This time she will not have stripes.

What is the correct finish for Traction Master under ride bar hardware?  I think on old Forum the bracket bolted to the spring plate was a bronze or gold color and the welded bracket was flat black, but do not remember what the attaching bolts and nuts were supposed to be.

Thanks for any help.

In the process of repainting#1134, and getting the assorted hardware re-plated.  I can see what appears to be a faint gold color on the nut and the bolt and nut appear to have been phosphate and oil.  Is this correct for the choke cable?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Attaching Lower Grille
June 10, 2019, 05:13:54 PM
Getting ready to re-attach my lower grille after repaint and installing the new lower grille protective strip.  The Assembly Manual shows what appears to be screws with washers, but gives no specifications on size and style(phillips or flat head).  My AMK kit has only bolts, J-nuts, and large head rivets.  What would be correct for a car #2339.

The Lounge / Cobra Spotted at North Star Mall
January 02, 2019, 05:25:36 PM
While visiting my grandkids in San Antonio, we were shopping at the North Star Mall when my granddaughter spotted this Cobra ride.  Just shows you never know when one will cross your path.  At six, she is very aware of Shelbys and Cobras.

What type of grommet was used at the firewall for the choke cable?  Mine is worn and not sure it is correct anyway.

Thanks,
