Looks like the registry shows that #289 & #544 were both built in Feb. 67, so one can assume that they both had headers installed at the same time.  #1947 was built later,  then stolen.... recovered without drivetrain.....so that kinda leaves that one out of the photoshoot.. ::)

There were 3 original 67 GT500's with factory 427 engines  ( #289...#544...#1947 ). Ok, we know about #544..had a bundle of snakes built headers...but what about the other 2 ??  They could not have used the GT exhaust manifolds, they would not bolt up to the 8 bolt Medium Riser Cylinder Heads. So how did they leave the factory ? As was said earlier, there were no aftermarket headers available yet...what sort of system was used? Any original pics of #289  & #1947  around? Would like to hear any input on this subject !!.. :o

 I always pay with Visa & order the part  at the first of the month, knowing the bill will not arrive for 28 days. If the part is defective I contact the vendor for a replacement. If they refuse I contact Visa. They have always backed me up.

Dennis loves to toss the  " HOLY GRAIL "  phrase onto many of his finds, hoping that will up the ante for potential buyers..and this car will be another. It always amuses me that he has always wanted  "one of these"  yet immediately puts it up for sale....just wondering Dennis, what is the going rate for   HALF OF A HOLY GRAIL ?... ::)

being that is the stock cast iron intake...try taking 2 small flat blade screwdrivers and gently tap them into where the intake meets the cylinder head at the intake gasket where the valve cover is..then progress to larger screwdrivers till it starts to break loose...then use a pry bar in the front of the intake to lift it some...probably should have a buddy help you lift it off & out of the the car to avoid any damage to fenders...85lbs +.. 8)

We had one of those cars in our shop about 1983..was puffing smoke badly....had to send the heads to be redone... also replaced leaking head gaskets,  motor was .030 over, noticed on the interior the the steering wheel  center cap (GT 350) had been rechromed..problem was that it was actually a mustang GT center cap that had the lettering starting to show thru the chrome...no wonder they called him....Jay "BUNK".... :o

I have those episode segments of " Dream Car Garage " circa 2002 on tape. At the time they were the only show that restored classic Muscle Cars & took you each step of the way. This was also before the Auctions hit big time and the prices exploded... 8)
