The Lounge / Re: Let's see some garages
November 14, 2018, 02:51:52 PM
Caught up on this thread.  Some really nice garages/shops and cars people have here.
When I moved to my current house about 2.5 years ago we looked for over a year to find suitable
land for me to build a shop.  The 2.5 acres with house already had a 24x30 detached oversize garage
with central heat, running water and bathroom/shower.
I've added on a 40x50 metal bld with 16' ceiling to the small garage.
It's a mess with parts and tools etc and just this week finally having 1000sqft of loft built in the big bld
so I can get organized.  I'll try to post some pics soon.
In the big shop I went with basic concrete stain/paint and some of it hasn't help up too well.  I didn't
want to spend the $ on epoxy at the time but I guess I should have.

Usually IF the car had AC then they lights were on each side of the console storage door.
However, I've seen some original non AC cars with factory console that have them on the console.  May have just been an "as it came down the assembly line"
choice or decision by the worker at the time since this option wasn't ordered much.  I think it's rare to see a car with one that most of it is
still intact and works.

Classic Mustang seller saying they have a Marty or Martini report!
Granted that could be auto correct taking over but still...get it right!

Sellers saying they have a Mustang GT for sale just because it has an eight cylinder.
Sellers saying their classic Mustang has a V6.

I often tell sellers on Craigslist who say "taking best offer over such and such price.." if they want a bidding war then please use eBay!

A hidden gps unit in the car is a good safety factor as well. At least it will give thieves a hesitant thought particularly when THEY can be specifically identified as the perp? Not only will they be convicted, they will have to pay reparations to the amount of damages.

A little off topic but is there a gps unit you recommend?  All the ones I've seen need constant power or frequent charging.

I want one of those big bastards like the garages have.
Snap On?

Bigfoot,

I've had this one for over a year and it has worked well for me.  Charges batteries real quick and has jumpstart feature.
Got mixed reviews on Amazon but has done well for me.  I'm sure there are other similar brands out there.  SnapOn probably one of the more expensive ones.

Obviously this one just stays in my garage.  I have a couple older bulky battery packs for travel and the newer smaller one from Costco

What would be the reason behind the BIN of $202,000?
Why not just a nice even $200K?

Not 100% sure...but I recall all 390 4spd cars (and of course the CJ 4spds) came standard with tach
All else had to be optioned for tach.
My original 390 GT C6 doesn't have a tach

Tried to sell some cars to Geevers in the past.
I wasn't impressed.
Maybe from a potential buyer standpoint your experience will be better.

In case anyone is interested, Not Mine.  Price seems a bit low so, take it as you see fit.

I'd be surprised if that is a legit ad.

A K code fastback Wimbledon white with red interior and GTA on the fender would get my attention.

I know one similar to this but it is a coupe

I had one in the past.  Just didn't have the time to do the work to it it deserved so I sold it.
Remember Stephen Becker had the green one for sale not look long ago on consignment.  I think it was presented here (and on eBay).
Maybe the $75K that one sold for has brought this one out.
The one on ebay the starting price was $92K the first go round a few weeks ago.

Looks like the seller got back to someone.
Hopefully it was someone here

If you have a reputable guy that does top quality work for $30/hr please share it with the group and we will cover him up..  ;D.  I have seen them as high as $100/hr and middle of the road at $60/hr.  It all depends on how correct you want to go.

The fun is finding the $30/hr guy.  Usually it takes becoming friends with the right people and the services are not offered to everyone.

I've been playing with old Stangs since around 1994.
About 7 years ago I got back into them pretty strong and have owned a few since then.
7 years ago I moved to a new town, didn't know many car guys at all.
Much of the fun for me has been networking and meeting new car people and making connections to get work done at what I
feel is a reasonable price.  I've made some great friends in the process.
I like what Dom said.  Not everything has to be done at a $100/hr labor rate to make a really nice car.
Just my 2 cents tho.
