While at MCACN I noticed the display for this show.  This was about 50 feet away from the Hertz display.  The event will be at the M1 Concourse, 1 Concourse Dr, Pontiac MI, 48341.
What drew me was the featured make: Shelby Automobiles.
So, in chatting with the two representative there, they wanted every year and type of Shelbys, Cobras, Ford GTs. I mostly talked with David Sherman.
I am not a representative of this event.
The website for more information is:   www.M1Concourse.com

Put on by the Chicago Vintage Mustang Club.  All Ford powered vehicles welcome.

I'm assembling my tribute to lil Red. Using a Scott Drake repop
w/strip, seems I need 1_ton weight to get the deck lid to close with out any force.

I recall some one else had this same issue, but, doing a search J can not find the solution.  Seems slicing a quarter out of the w/strip or more might be the answer.
Anything else?

Posting this so if any coupe or convertible owner find this same problem.

1/30/1971:  Yep, that was the day I bought 67 GT 350 #0036.  And I still have it.  I suppose I should join the trend of other 50 year owners and write something for the Shelby American.  OK, when I get around to that in the future.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering who has owned a 67 Shelby longer than I?   Well, there was 3 or 4 mentioned in the 2020 Shelby American annual.  And I ran into a 67 GT 500 owner back at SAAC 42 (a Vietnam vet from Indiana).  Also, although I haven't been to the Indiana SAAC Spring Fling in the past 5-6 years, there was an original 67 Shelby owner there almost every year.  So, if you are an original owner, or, bought your 67 Shelby between November of 1966 until, lets say 1975, and still own it, lets hear from you.  At 50 years now, I figure I might be at least in the top 25 of long-term owners
And then who is the youngest owner?  I recall from one of the annuals that there are just a few who bought their 67 younger than I.  I was 18 years and 345 days old on January 30th 1971.  Who else might be younger?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67' GT 500 owners need to fess up
December 06, 2020, 11:17:28 AM
Recall the thread a couple of months back about somebody needing a 67 GT 500 for display?   So, it seems Fomoco had four diffent track days for new GT 500 owners (and others) and at these track events they also displayed a 67 GT 500.
One track event was in Charlotte NC (I think) and they displayed a brittany blue GT 500.
In my neighborhood, this event was held at the Autobahn Country Club, out side of Joliet IL.
There were two other track events.
So, I don't know if they used the same car, or, did they find one locally near each track event.
Just want to know who's car they were, car numbers, and a little info on the experience.

This is going in my 67 clone so take it easy eh?  428 with a C-6  (That is NOT changing), It'll be a cruiser, not a race car.
Kind of the plan: 3:50 gears, all new bearings, equa-lock center section with 31 spline side gears, new Moser axles.
Not locked on the 3:50 gears, don't want to do 3:89 or 4:11's
Summit sells the Yukon type center section.  It has the rebuildable plates for the equal lock.
  OK, suggestions welcome

Concours Talk / 289 Hi-Po timing chain
May 20, 2020, 05:45:34 PM
I just ordered a new Cloyes timing chain set for my 67 GT 350 from Summit.  Seems it isn't going to work due to the extra crankshaft counter weight the Hi-Po's have.  Summit lists 29 different sets.  None say specifically for the 289 Hi-PO.  Yes, they do say small block Ford.
OK, now what?  Any part number assistance is appreciated.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / I'm a snitch!
August 09, 2019, 12:50:41 PM
Just passing this along.  I have a habit of noting Shelby car numbers (67's in my case) that I see at car shows.  Then I look them up in the registry to see what it says.  And if it says "current whereabouts unknown", I tell that to the registrar.   With whatever story I could pull out of the owner.

  AS WE ALL SHOULD DO.

CSX 2000 Series / Radio antenna
June 05, 2019, 09:56:25 AM
So, here I am reading the 2019 registry.  All the 2000 series Cobras listed with "readio and antenna".  But, looking at the photos I see no antennas.  So, where is it hidden at?  Trying to learn something new every day.  Thanks.

Yeah well what else do you call it?
  USClassicMuslceCars.   www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9OcLnAMOsA
Right now it is about the third row down.

This was filmed at the Autobahn Country Club back in very early October (not by me).  They caught me as I was loading the trailer.  So Why not?  The event was the Chicago Vintage Mustang clubs annual show...which includes a few parade laps.  I did those too.
P/S: That Autobahn logo looks very much like a Cobra to me for you folks slugging it out in the Shelby American eagle eye contest.

Concours Talk / Chrome-tech going out
December 21, 2018, 09:31:29 AM
Just read this on the Spotlight Hobbies board:  Chrome Tech USA (from Wisconsin) is stopping his plastic replating business.  Too bad, about a year ago he did some rehroming of the 67 Deluxe dash pieces for me.

Dateline 04/12/2018  Russell C. Evans passed away earlier this week at the age of 74.  This was due to cardiac complications brought on by diabetes.
Russ leaves behind his wife Marcia, son Alex, and daughter Bess.

Folks from the former Northern Illinois Shelby club will remember him as a board member, Carroll Shelby fan, anything Ford powered fan, and a enthusiast of fast cars.
Russ had owned a LaSalle, a 62 406 Galaxie, a 69 Mach I, but will be best remembered by his Competition Orange 69 GT 500.  Could he make the GT 500 scream around the Elkhart Lake Wisconsin road course during the Northwoods Wisconsin Shelby club events.
Russ was also an expert model car builder and slot car racer.
       Godspeed my friend!

Look in the 67 area for the"Group 24 and 22 batteries" thread.  I am making a list of those who are interested in the Legal Mumbo Jumbo cast into the 65-66-67 Autolite batteries. This is a 3-d plate you glue to the top of your battery.
#39
Look for the thread in the 67 Shelby area for my post about purchasing the battery legal Mumbo Jumbo on a plate to glue to the top of your battery if interested.  This would be for the Autolite 65 through 67 batteries that is not repoped and has no correct "topper".

There is a two page article in Mustang Times (MCA Feb 2018) about the shifter detent Ford put only on the 67 Mustangs that were ordered with the Competion Suspension option AND automatic transmission.
If you have a photo of the bottom of the adjuster and the extra welded on plate it rubs, it would be appreciated.  Looking to see if there is a spring loaded ball up inside the adjuster and what the shapes of the detents are in the extra plate.  There are not many of these.  It might be easier to just make one than to wait out Ebay for 20 years.  Thanks.

Bob G:  I think you posted in the "lost" forum:  The measurement or a side by side shape of the shifter side PRNDL detent differences.  Care to repost?  Thanks.
