The first time SAAC was at the Brickyard, I recall somebody in front of me with a camera filming our group going down the back straight.  I asked back then if anybody had some film to share in a Snakebite bulletin.  Alas, no reply.

I was there too with my 67 GT 350.  Checked all my photos, but, sorry, none with your car in it.

But, I'll tell you.  Mid day after lunch, a Dodge mini-van showed up in the show parking lot.  The van had "official vehicle Indy 500" decals on it.  And out pops Carroll Shelby.  He instantly got mobbed.
The show officials had Carroll sit under a tent, and he signed autographs for about an hour and a half.  Then Carroll stands up and says "lets go sign some cars".  And off he went, car to car.  Was a great day to be there.

Enjoyed the photos, thanks.  Seems you caught all the good cars.

   C'mon.  I KNOW there is a page 6 or 7 in this thread...yet.

Ah, but it is period correct.  You could go to the Ford dealer and either order one, or buy one out of  the Cobra Kit catalog.  You could't page through a car magazine in the 60's without running into a Cobra Kit ad.

With the dipstick tube fully in, I put in 6 1/2 quarts.

7/31/2020    I wonder if it was the one featured on Ford Performance.  It is a 67 GT 500, britany blue, NO LeMans stripes, inboard, hubcap car.  Looked good.

And so you forwarded all that information to the registrar, first thing....right?

If just a few wore oblong, how long do you figure the others might wear?  Might a well fix them all, permanently.

Jerry, that name was Don Hoval

Please describe your issue with "ill-fitting".  The ones I bought fought a little, but not impossible to go make me want to go to the 68 mounts.

Might be deeper to hold the extra quart of oil.  I said might be.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 1967 GT350 Motor Mounts

I just bought a pair (well, ordered them) for my GT350.  One bad one was a C7 numbered origial.  No difference that I noticed.  Fit right in.  According to the parts guy, all the 67's are the same.  No HiPo noted.

Cam: It is in the NPD catalog.  The brand is Elgin.  The solid lifters in the NPD catalog also had no brand shown.

Motor mounts:  For the 67's, aren't they all the same?  Nothing special I noticed, even with the C7 numbered original.

And, unrelated: Then if I was to put dual quads or 3-2bbls on, I'd have to notch my metal underlined hood to get the oval air cleaner to fit, right?  That ain't gonna happen.

  Today on #0036: nothing.
In the past 60 days I:
1) pulled the engine to change the rear main seal
2) replaced the water pump with one rebuilt by Jim Cowles
3) replaced the cam and lifters as it had a Howards Racing Cam "Boss 302 grind from the 70's.  Now it is a  repop 289 HiPo cam
4) replaced the timing chain and both crank and cam sprockets
5) installed my possibly original Cobra Kit T-pan.  Well the cast-in part number is correct.
6)  Replaced the clutch disk and pressure plate.  It's got to come out though.  The pedal effort had at least doubled
7) installed it with new motor mounts.  One original one was bad as was the worn repop one.

The flat gas cap required a flat adapter in order to put on the flat gas car emblem.  Back a few years, like SAAC 11 and/or SAAC 15 the rumor had it that about the first 85 cars got flat gas caps, and, now, plus some other later ones.
Last time I saw 0002 it was complete, not missing much of anything.  Then, Mr Atzbach treated it to  a super restoration.
Most of the early cars were alike, other than color.
And I'm glad it got bid up like it did.
