SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: Time is $

In short, the article is about how fast (therefore how much) the cost of a quality paint job runs.  It is pretty much all in the prep work, and in the teeny tiny details.

It would be very unusual to have MCA judges judging Shelby's that are not also SAAC judges, or who have also judged at SAAC conventions.

It's been the same few people for years.  Kind of like Chicago Aldermen.

The Lounge / Re: Lousy Chicago weather

I just got back from a fishing trip in Wisconsin.  Those road builders and politians in Illinois have some 'splaining to do about the lousy roads in Illinois but gee, the roads in Wisconsin seemed so nice.
Don't worry, as the dummy congressman explained, Florida will be the next state to sink into the ocean....after Guam flips over.

I heard this long ago: "You can't outrun Motorola."

Besides those fabulous looking "Cobra Powered by Ford / Cobra LeMans" valve covers we are so familiar with, the Cal Custom stuff was the next coolest.
Here in Chicago the big go-to store was Warshawski and company along with J.C.Whitney

No shock tower reinforcements on an early 67 S code that I own.

Doug:  need to clarify this statement.  The metal underlined hood and decked car absolutley were painted body color.   You know, those early cars.  Otherwise, what JD said is true.

The local parts store occasionally gets a display of it.  There has to be others.  I will say I've seen it on motorcycles, so, maybe the Harley dealer?

If you have an original Autolite filter, might be the time to get a rubber stamp made for the new filter.  Just saying.

Bob is talking about those inner brackets  the tail lights mount to.  There is a "deep set" and there is a "shallow set".  Depends on when the car was built at S/A

Rust is one thing, any kind of "pits" means time for a rechrome.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: #363 vin plate used in a scam?

What really matters is does it have the Ford Vin that coincides with the SAAC registrars records or not?

Small issue:  Some totally cleaned out a few years back when scrap metal prices peaked.

Ebay's management wrecked the whole thing long ago.  All in the name of "progress......."
