Just an observation but some of the same people on BaT complaining about a stock built car are the same who complain when the cars are not stock?

🤷🏻‍♂️
Agreed...that's why critics like that are referred to as the "Peanut Gallery"!!  I've also noticed that most of the major critics and commentators have never even put a bid on a car.

Wonder if anyone knows, does the car have a Scott Fuller exhaust system on it?

Pat
The car does not have a Scott Fuller exhaust system on it.  It's just the basic reproduction system on it.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Mag star color
July 20, 2022, 02:29:57 PM
Pictured is an n.o.s. MagStar wheel that had never been cleaned or touched up and was still in the box.  Notice the center has the very light gray appearance and is defiantly not bare aluminum.  The backside of the wheel center is clearly not painted and has a bare aluminum appearance.

As Bob mentioned, I find that a cast iron color paint, applied in a very light coat, replicates the appearance of the original wheel centers.  The center should never be painted black or even a dark gray.

I have a number of original unrestored wheels that have the same appearance, with the gray centers, as the n.o.s. wheel pictured.

I hope everything goes well for you.  Stay strong and positive my friend!!

It may not matter to you, but it appears someone has installed non-original P/S in the car.  1963-67 Galaxie R code cars were not available from the factory with power steering unless a dealer or owner installed it.  A/C was another option not offered on R code Galaxies.  It would pay to do an in person inspection before you pull the trigger.

Very nice looking car and if it's all there...make a deal!!

Offered For Sale is an Original unrestored 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR, Shelby #2503.  This is an untouched Survivor condition car.

This car was pulled out of long term (parked approximately 1975) storage and is a 2 owner unrestored and unmolested car.  The paint, interior and underside are all original and near perfect.  The only paint work performed was the hood because the original owner painted it satin black to mimic a Boss 302.  The car has never been hit, no accidents and never rusted.  This is a true time capsule.  I installed a new concours date code correct Scott Fuller exhaust system. The car runs, but will need some engine work due to sitting so long.  This car does not need any body work, interior work or paint work.

This car includes:
-Original Candy Apple Red Paint in amazing near perfect condition
-Original Shelby vin tag, door tag, and buck tag
-Original 428 Cobra Jet engine
-Original Holley carb, exhaust manifolds, cast iron intake, heads, air cleaner assembly, radiator and shroud, etc.
-Original Smog equipment
-Original C6 Transmission
-Original 9" rear end w/ tag
-Original black Deluxe Interior w/ console
-Original black carpet
-Original Roll Bar w/ seat belts
-Original Philco AM radio
-Original console gauges and 8,000 RPM tach
-Original chrome and bright work
-Original trunk mat
-Original underside floors with red oxide primer and red overspray
-Original front shocks (original owner replaced rear shocks with non-original air shocks)
-Original, to the car, set of (5) Goodyear E70x15 Polyglas tires, 15x6 Kelsey Hayes steel wheels, and Shelby hubcaps.
-Also include Custom aluminum Shelby wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires purchased in 1972 to replace the original worn tires.
-Original build sheet, window sticker, owners manual, dealer packet, maintenance receipts.
-Original mileage clocked at 55,949

This Shelby is in remarkable original condition and needs minimal work to get ready for SAAC-47.  Remember, "They are only original once".  This Shelby is unique in itself and has never been shown at any car show venues.

SOLD.  I will listen to serious cash offers and consider trades toward land in WY, MT, or Idaho or trade toward a 65-67 Shelby.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.  The car is located in Scottsdale, Arizona and can be shown by appointment.  I am unable to attach pictures since I keep getting "the upload folder is full".  I can send pics in a private message or text.

Thank you,

Is there anyone willing to restore/re-chrome the original non-DOT steel chrome rims and rivet them back to the aluminum center?

Most shops that are restoring the MagStars are using current DOT compliant chrome rims (liability reasons), which do not have the same appearance and design as the original rims.  Some are also bolting the rim to the aluminum center instead of using the rivet method as original.  A few years back, Shelby Parts and Restoration had a source that did a few for them, but that source may be gone also.

Hey guys. Finding the car was such an amazing experience. It was one of the absolute coolest things I have ever done. The story would blow peoples minds. The amount of unique cars and parts would also.

It all started with an ad being posted about a 66 Shelby steering wheel that a good friend of mine seen. After that was months of negotiations and literally hours of scouring through a couple houses wearing masks etc. The raccoons had literally taken over this house and the cars. The house was falling in.

The 65 had a cover on it when we got to it. The raccoons had been living on it, but not in it. The hood hinges were stuck and it wasn't until after I got it back to my place that I was able to get it free by using a lot of PB blaster and wedges gently working the hinges high enough until I could get a 1/2 wrench to the bolts. Original engine was thankfully all in place but had a 2x4 Cobra intake on it with Carter carbs on it. The original intake, carb and air cleaner were in the attic with the wing nut still on thankfully preserved.

I decided to rebuild the engine, suspension, brakes, fuel lines, exhaust, rearend and go through the T10 to get the car back on the road safely. I simply cleaned the interior and it came out very nice and I didn't have to replace anything.

The Cragars were polished and new Blue Dots were added. The calipers were redone by Jimmy Grindle back to concourse specs. The car runs and drives amazing.

One day I will paint the car and restore it top to bottom. For now, it will remain looking like hell, but in my opinion different from the others and still badass.

We pulled the car out in January of 2020. I spent 6 months going through it and took it to a local show in July, then the Indiana Fall classic. I'm sure this year it will go to a few shows.

Thanks for all the positive comments. It was definitely one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life and I'm grateful to have the experience and to own 5S269 which I plan to keep for a very long time.
very cool story and awesome find!!  Keep the car as it is and enjoy it. The story behind it is better than any restored car.  They are only original and unrestored once in their life.  Congrats!!🍻

What an awesome find!!  They are still out there and re-surface every so often.

As Brian mentioned, there was an early reproduction COBRA T-pan produced with the "SIMS" as opposed to the original with part number "S1MS".  The originals also had the part number cast in a square box where the reproduction part number was cast in an octagonal box.  Later reproduction pans typically do not have any part numbers on them.

Typically, the originals will have the manufacture cast into the back of the frame, which is "THE BOWER CO".   Your frame appears to be an earlier reproduction.
