Another clue, from the BAT commentary of the person that listed the car there, after the auction ended...

"There were two Shelby GT350's in the garage. They both have now been sold. This car was bought by a local Shelby collector who enjoys driving his cars. Thanks again for your comments."

I enjoyed Sears Point/Sonoma last time around, lots to do, and the road racing and drag racing was fun.  First time I drag raced, and I quickly learned the car and driver needed a lot of dialing in drag race wise.  Get better soon Randy!

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: someone got a deal!

Hi Smiley48,

Congratulations again on your purchase and on joining SAAC.  We communicated through BAT regarding your purchase ("Craig_S") and as a long term owner of an early driver quality '66 with a 5 speed, I know you'll enjoy your car.  Coincidentally, Craig Conley, who was mentioned regarding your car on BAT, and who is a great resource for all things Shelby, is now vintage racing a white with gold stripe '66, which, like yours, looks great!
Cheers!

Got back from a little get away, and ours was in the mailbox in the Central Coast area of California.
Thank you SAAC, I'm looking forward to reading it cover to cover, as always!  Cheers!

True, just thought maybe another Forum participant might be able to shed light on this mystery.

Thanks, but still wondering about that part of the history.  Howard wasn't sure either.  Maybe a part of a movie that saw the editing room floor...?

Thanks for the response...
I'm a big 007 fan, and also Shelby fan, and thought the same.
...But for those with a registry, check out the history of 6S341, which has always intrigued me....

Was a GT350 ever used in a 007 chase?? 8)

Like many of you, I first got some parts from Tony over 30 years ago, and just bought another part last month that was hard to find.  Rest in peace Tony, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I've had a WC 5 Speed in my early '66 for the last 19 years.  Put it in when we couldn't keep the 4 speed from popping out of 3rd...I still have the 3.89 rear end, but a lot more power than the original motor, and it's been great in town, on the highway and on the track.  Feels close enough to stock in the first four gears, but for highway cruising, it dropped the RPMs from around 3500 to the low 2000s at 70 mph...
Cheers!

Hi Folks...
Does anyone know what the correct color name is for the rear leaf springs?
Looks like a dark charcoal gray to me.
Also, any recommendations for a high quality replacement fuel tank,  both for an early 68 GT5OO.
Thanks!
