This 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is one of the first 50 examples built and was completed at the original Shelby headquarters in Venice, California before production of the model shifted to a facility near Los Angeles International Airport. SFM5S048 was originally ordered from a Chicago dealer by a Minneapolis SCCA member, who attempted to drive it home to Minnesota after taking delivery but suffered an engine failure along the way that required the warranty installation of a new engine. The first owner proceeded to campaign the car in road-racing competition until selling it in 1966 to the second owner, who continued racing it while making several R-model-style updates. The car remained with its third owner for 20 years before being acquired in 1988 by its fourth owner, who had it for 12 years. Finished in Wimbledon White with blue Le Mans stripes, the car retains its warranty-replacement 289ci HiPo V8, which is paired with a Borg-Warner T10 four-speed manual transmission and a Detroit Locker differential. Early modifications include cylinder-head upgrades, an R-style front fascia, larger brake-cooling ducts, a larger radiator, plexiglass rear quarter windows, and a 1966 instrument cluster, while recent additions include an R-style fuel tank and MSD ignition. Acquired by the seller in July 2019, this GT350 is now offered in Maui, Hawaii with historical documents, photos from its racing career, a collection of parts, owner's manuals, and a clean Montana title in the seller's name.

This 1967 Shelby Mustang is one of 2,048 GT500 fastbacks produced for the model year and was completed on January 24, 1967. The car was sold new by Stark Hickey Ford in Royal Oak, Michigan, and was purchased by the seller in 2006 as a project from Mason's Hot Rods of Spartanburg, South Carolina. A multi-year rotisserie restoration was subsequently carried out and included a repaint in black with white stripes. Power comes from a rebuilt 428ci Police Interceptor V8 that is backed by an optional Select-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Other factory options include the Extra Cooling Package, power steering and brakes, a tachometer, shoulder belts, and a fold-down rear seat. About 1,000 miles have been added by the seller since the restoration was completed in 2013. This GT500 is now offered with a copy of its original invoice, an Elite Marti Report, restoration photos and invoices, and a clean Georgia title in the seller's name.

The GT500 was added to the Shelby lineup in 1967 as a higher-powered alternative to the GT350. Chuck McHose and Peter Brock were tasked with styling the 1967 Shelby Mustangs in order to visually distinguish them from other Mustang variants. This included adding a fiberglass trunk lid with an integrated Kamm-type rear spoiler, an elongated fiberglass hood and nose extension, horizontal sequential taillights, and functional brake ducts on the rear quarter panels.

This example was originally painted Lime Gold and during the restoration was refinished in black by Mason's Hot Rods of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Exterior features include white Rallye stripes and center-mounted high beams. The finish and trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

I believe the fiberglass of the '69-'70's to be one of the most inspired, beautiful designs to ever come out of Detroit (Dearborn) and enjoy discussing them with my buddy of 41 years.

With that said, we came to a question I wasn't sure about. I always thought the overall design was an in-house Ford design that was never really credited to one team or individual.

The car is finished in special-order Grabber Yellow over black vinyl, and power comes from a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 paired with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission and a Traction-Lok differential with 3.50:1 gears. Additional equipment includes a white soft top, optional heavy-duty competition suspension, a Tilt-Away steering wheel, a period Pioneer AM/FM/eight-track stereo, and more. The transmission was re-sealed in January 2020. This final-year GT500 is reportedly listed in both the SAAC registry and the Shelby American database, and is offered with a factory order sheet, a dealer invoice, original service booklet and service records from 1975 to present, a Deluxe Marti Report, and transferrable Ontario registration.

This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR is one of 1,053 "King of the Road" fastback models produced during a three-month period from May through July of 1968. The car was built on June 6th and was sold new in Indianapolis. It later spent time in Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, and Michigan, before undergoing a refurbishment in Ohio in the mid-2000s. It was acquired by the current owner in 2014 from a Canadian dealer and brought to California, where the 428ci Cobra Jet V8 was rebuilt in 2016. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, 3.50:1 Traction-Lok differential, heavy duty suspension setup, front disc brakes, and power steering. Service in February 2020 included replacing the power steering pump, axle shafts, and wheel bearings, as well as servicing the air conditioning system. Finished in Acapulco Blue over black knitted vinyl, this GT500KR is included in the SAAC registry and is accompanied by a Deluxe Marti Report and certification letters from Ford. It is now offered on behalf of the current owner with records and registration documents dating back to 1970, a factory build sheet, two owner's manuals, and a clean California title.

This 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350H was initially part of a special partnership between Shelby American and the Hertz car-rental company. It is finished in Wimbledon White with gold stripes over a black vinyl interior, and power comes from a replacement 289ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. According to the SAAC Shelby Registry, the car was sent to Jack Loftus Ford in Hinsdale, Illinois for dealer preparation prior to being delivered to Hertz in Chicago in April 1966. It was then sold to its first private owner in January 1967 and subsequently spent time in California, Indiana, Ohio, and Texas. The car was disassembled and refinished around 1990, when the current engine was installed. The five-speed manual gearbox was fitted in place of the factory automatic transmission under previous ownership in the mid-2000s, and the seller acquired the car in 2012 and has had the clutch replaced and side-exit exhaust pipes installed. Other equipment includes an optional fold-down rear seat and Shelby 14″ ten-spoke wheels. This GT350H is now offered with refurbishment photos, the removed factory transmission case and Magnum 500–style wheels, a copy of the 2011 SAAC Shelby Registry featuring the car on the cover, and a clean California title in the seller's name.

Carroll Shelby's team had been campaigning Ford's Mustang 'pony car' with considerable success in US and capitalising on this, Shelby began manufacturing modified Mustangs. These cars were to be officially sanctioned and sold through selected Ford dealerships and the very first Shelby Mustang was the model we are offering onto the market, the 350GT. The model was launched in 1965 and powered by a modified version of Ford's 289ci 4.7 small-block V8 producing 306bhp, with options of a 340-360bhp unit in competition trim or 400bhp supercharged. Stock transmission was a four-speed Borg-Warner manual gearbox on the early Shelby Mustangs and a three-speed automatic was later available as an option. The running gear was up-rated to handle the GT350's increased performance, incorporating the optional Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes, stronger Ford Galaxie rear axle, Koni adjustable shock absorbers and aluminium-alloy wheels.

WME 9G is an exceptionally well documented GT350 with a wonderful history covering virtually its entire life, including the all important Marti Report confirming its authenticity. This pristine example was manufactured at the San Jose, Calfornia factory and the build was completed 28 days behind schedule on the 22nd March 1967. This Shelby Mustang was then supplied new by Minar Ford Inc in Minneapolis and is one of 1,174 GT-350s manufactured in 1967, of which 821 had manual transmission like this example.

In 1968 the Shelby was exported to the UK where it was raced competitively in club events before being sold to Anthony Wolfe Motors of Middlesex in 1971. On 4th June 1971 Mr R G C Watling purchased the GT350, which came complete with a trailer and a set of slick-shod racing wheels and a bill of sale in the history file confirms this. In February 1978, the car was purchased by Simpson's of Wembley still wearing its white and blue racing livery and the American car specialists reinstated the original colour scheme. WME 9G was then used by Phil Simpson, a director of the company.

The car's next owner was Mr Robert William Mael in 1979 and during his ownership the car was famously photographed with Carroll Shelby himself at the inaugural Street Racing Promotion in Birmingham in 1984. In 1986 the Mustang was repatriated to US and two private owners in Florida enjoyed the car before passing via a dealer in Colorado to Robert Brooks, founder of Brooks Auctioneers.

WME 9G was then shipped back to the UK in December 1989. With impressive records of its racing career in the 1970s, '80s and '90s and FIA papers dated 1990, the 350 GT was then bought by the Marlboro Tobacco Company. The Shelby was then given as the star prize in its 'Coast to Coast' promotion in July 1991 and was won by Mr P Hanson of Bradford, West Yorkshire. In March 1992 the car was purchased from a Bradford motor dealer by D Dean Motors of Ruislip and the Mustang changed hands a couple of times in the South of England. In 2001 the Shelby was purchased by a long term owner, keeping the car for almost fourteen years and in 2008 treating the Ford to a six year full nut and bolt rebuild to the very highest of standards. The well documented restoration cost circa £100,000+VAT with invoices and records kept in the impressive history file. Less than 1000 miles have been covered since the rebuilds completion in January 2014 and the car is presented in effectively 'as new' condition and offers collectors and enthusiasts a wonderful rare opportunity to buy one of the best GT's available. WHE 9G has been in the hands of collectors since with little use on the road ensuring the car presents and performs perfectly as it did on completion of the six figure six year rebuild. This is a special car and importantly retains its original correct date code block, heads, transmission and original rear axle. The car is also seriously quick with exceptional power due to a serious race spec engine said to produce up to 400 bhp. The Shelby is fully prepared, ready to be delivered, and has covered just 50 miles on a brand new set of factory correct radial tyres.

I was just pouring thru my latest Hemmings Muscle Machines and noticed that Lil' Red has a ring of brightwork lining it's radiator opening.

Anyone know if it's aluminum? Chromed Pot metal? How deep does it go in?

Was this ever done on any other '67?

The Subject of Scott Drake reproduction parts comes up fairly often here so I thought I would ask about ACP.

I have come across a few of their parts and the parts I saw were good to great quality of construction.

Are they perfect reproductions of OEM parts? I know that is unlikely. I know Premier Concours is not going to be OK with non-OEM parts, but what about the drivers out there?

But I wondered if anyone knew more about them. Specifically, are they imported parts? Do they fit and function well? Has anyone had bad experiences? (Looks like they are headquartered in California.)

A lot of Parts suppliers list their reproduction parts as "good" "better" or "Best". They do not tell you if Best is Daniel Carpenter or if good is Drake.

This Ford 289ci Hi-Po V8 and Borg-Warner T10 four-speed transmission were removed from a 1963 Shelby Cobra, chassis CSX2085. The seller sold CSX2085 a few years ago with a race-spec engine and gearbox installed, and this drivetrain has resided in his private collection since. Savannah Race Engineering rebuilt the engine to street specifications at a cost of $29k in 2016, at which point a set of Italian-made Weber carburetors were installed along with a matching Cobra intake manifold and an aluminum oil sump. The included Borg-Warner transmission was also pulled from CSX2085 and retains a Cobra bellhousing. This Shelby Cobra engine and gearbox are now being offered in Solebury, Pennsylvania.

The block wears a C40E casting number and a pair of 1964 cylinder heads. A new reproduction Hi-Po camshaft and flat-tappet lifters were installed during the rebuild, along with an original-stroke crankshaft, forged connecting rods, and forged pistons. The engine reportedly produced 350 horsepower on Savannah Race Engineering's dyno following break-in.

Four Italian-made Weber 48IDA were sourced in 2016 and are mounted atop a Cobra intake manifold. A Cobra cast aluminum water neck, MSD distributor, and alternator are also included. Oil is held in an eight-quart Aviaid aluminum sump.

The included Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed gearbox, shift linkage, and Cobra bellhousing were also removed from CSX2085.

This listing is for a NOS OEM Ford Part in the original box described as a fiberglass trunk lid manufactured for a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 350 or GT 500 fastback application. It comes with the original box as marked for Ford identification purposes with part number S7MS 6340110-A. The S7MS denotes a 67 Shelby part. This trunk lid is the all fiberglass version unlike the very earliest produced 67 versions that had a steel frame. This all fiberglass trunk lid is absolutely correct for all early to end of 67 produced Shelby versions. This trunk lid is not correct for the 68 Shelby versions. The condition is "as is" in the box and the part has some very small and typical factory nips (not cracks) at the two gelled corners that can be easily corrected with a minimal fiberglass-gel fix. Please see the good quality photographs for these areas. There are no apparent cracks or warp-age to the fiberglass body. The bolt thread socket mounts are fixed and solid. If you are restoring an original 67 Shelby worth six figures and have a need for a unmolested NOS part that will properly fit and not star-crack, bow-up or distort as the re-pops do over time, then here is your chance. I do not test fit NOS auto parts, so I do not guarantee a perfect fit of this item. Finding used originals on Ebay is difficult and most are commonly found in rough shape with the gel coat damaged or sanded through. Currently listed is an early used 67 Shelby trunk lid in very rough shape for around $1900, so don't snooze and loose. Shipping will be by UPS and it is free of charge to the buyer! I use a professional package and mail center to ship. The part will be shipped in a new thick wall box that has the part and original box both inside.
