After reading the Sill Plate Emblem discussion for the 1967s it brings to mind what are the 1966 sill plate styles and how do the relate to Shelby numbers. I know there was past discussion about this but thats gone so here is the new question.

Thanks.

Les 1348

Thanks for posting the question.  We need to slowly build the data base back. Along those same lines, it would be great if folks who have taken it upon themselves to reproduce parts for our cars repost the information as their time permits.  I am sure it will be appreciated.

Inquiring minds want to know 1966 GT 350 sill plate emblems for 1966.

I had it delivered. It arrived on a flat bed roll back. They lowered it onto wheels and rolled it in the garage. Leveled it, fine tuned the lift and it was done.

Am I reading this correctly? It came assembled?

Yes it was assembled mostly. I was surprised  and please as they were here only about 45 minutes.

Hey Les, can you please post a picture if possible?

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve here is my lift. My 10 foot 6 inch ceiling works well except I bent the antenna top on the T Bird when it hit the ceiling. I just need a few more inches. I had to raise the garage door as you can see the track is almost at the ceiling. Also because that door is a double size I had to put a stronger industrial type lifter to raise the heavier door. The Shelby fits nicely with about 14" clearance on each side and 10 "roof clearance at the top.
Just don't forget to duck when you get out of your car. Working on a car I still have to duck under the side rails to get under the car but there is ample room to work on the car underside once under it.

I saw several different ones at a local car event and decided this one was the best for me. It cost a bit more but looked to me better for my needs. I have had zero problems with it. I have had it about 6-7 years.

I have a Rotery lift in my 10 ft 6 in celing. Could be 10 ft I think or lower. Can easily have 2 Mustangs. Works great for me...

Some great advice here.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the coil. Probably unlikely in your case but in my experience failing coils can cause very weird, intermittent problems, especially when hot. Can't explain how using the choke would make things better unless the denser fuel charge helped with a weak spark?? Anyway, something to consider, especially if you're using one of those lousy repop yellow tops, and easy enough to check.

Dave

I had a coil problem one time and it sounded somewhat like what is described here, except the choke. Mine would run for various times short and long. After being towed home by AAA I discovered the power wire to the coil was not pushed all the way down. It was loose causing power and no power. Pushed it down in place and have not had any problem.

I bought a really nice used one on eBay recently. I didn't need it but I guess a person can't have too much of this stuff...

Some years ago I put a repo wiper bag on 6S1348 because it looked fresher. The one that was on the car
when I bought it in 1982 went into my collection of parts. I had to move some of my stuff last week to
reorganize my garage. In a box I found the original wiper bag, at least I think it is.
I think the right hand bag is repo and the left hand is an original.
Is this correct? I appreciate your opinion.

Thanks,

Les 6S1348

You are correct in your assumption that the bag on the left is genuine and the right is repro IMO.

Thanks Bob,
I see on 2169's picture on thread Re: Share a picture of your 66 GT350 reply # 53 that car has what looks like a gold bag. Was there a change over from white letter bags to gold during the later 1966 production?

Hi Steve,
I will share with you the running horse on 6S1348's Grill. My horse is located 3 1/4 inches tail to grill opening. The two mounting brackets are located between grill horizontal bars 3 and 4 (from top). The left facing mounting bracket is against the vertical grill bar.
as shown in the pictures.

Please note the top grill bar in image 1 is not bent as it appears. It is camera lens illusion.

Here is an original stamp from 6S1348 original to the car under hood on the right side.
Build date appears to be in the later part of Feb. FYI

6S1348 tach is about 3/4 inch from the windshield at the top back edge.
Looks like it is set forward slightly more than some.
I have never had it out the car. Original dash pad and tach to my knowledge...

6S1348 has flat cut edges.

I have to add it looks like to me that the edges are slightly rounded and not perfectly flat.
