These are very interesting.

I understand the need to replace the "hoop" on the Cragars during restoration as they need to be rechromed, but why would one replace on a steel wheel?

I would think, that unless terribly rusted, that you would simply clean up (media blast, chemical, etc.) and repaint.

Am I missing something here?

Curious as to what these "restored" wheels will bring.

My initial thoughts also.  I've only run across a couple wheels that were so rusty/pitted that they couldn't be used... as in actual rust holes through the outer rim and huge craters in the surface.

I just booked a room at the Courtyard Marriott hotel next to the host hotel last night, they still had other rooms.  It's just about throwing distance to the host hotel.

Those petronix units usually work best with a lower ohm coil.  If I remember right, the Ford yellow top coil is around 1-2 ohms.  Electronic ignition coils are usually less than 1 ohm depending on the system.

The end of the repro usually has subtle differences when compared to original also.

Any typos or issues with the sheets, reach out to the head judge for that class so they can consolidate and we will get them fixed during the yearly review.

I have actually tagged BaT on auctions  offering my services when I retire to write their descriptions for them as it appears those who they have hired do not know what they are doing.

Had to go through several iterations with them on the description of a car I sold on there recently.  It was an exercise in patience restraint for sure!  It seems there are so many writers and huge inconsistency from one to the other.

Wanted to Buy / Re: 65/66 mustang passenger side interior light pad
« on: May 01, 2023, 11:17:00 AM »
I'm guessing the pad was made to prevent the light bracket collapsing when tightening.  It may also have inhibited a good ground, possibly something intended early in production and then foregone later.  We know there are details in the assembly manuals that are not correct or a transient detail that was an early or late type of thing.

In regards to the screws, I have seen many San Jose cars with a regular sheet metal 3/8" hex head holding the driver side bracket on and some with with that type of screw on both.  The predominant is the machine thread phillips panhead with captured tooth washer and the same style nut used on the tail light housing to body attachment.

One of those parts to best source an NOS piece.

I had a few K3 ones and they were identical to K2.  The K3 ones I had were late dated, like June/July of '68.

Charles, congratulations on a splendid auction!  Excellent pics, descriptions and attention to details. One of the very best I've seen on BAT.

Thanks, appreciate it!  Was my first time listing a car and didn't know what to expect, was pleasantly surprised with the commentary and how things went.

I really appreciate your attention to detail and your knowledge Charles. This is definitely one of the nicest Mustangs to go through BaT. Gary

Thanks Gary!
