...... I supplement that Boss 302s are not Shelbys (unless we are looking at the 1969 Trans Am cars)
Those were also not Shelby's. They were built by Kar Kraft and provided to the teams by Ford. Shelby Racing Inc was at the time a contractor (mid 1967- last race of 1970) hired by Ford to campaign their cars in the TransAm. When Shelby's contract expired the cars were sent to Bud Moore for disposal. Shelby did not own or build the cars.

Good to know.  I thought Shelby did some work on the cars because I recall that the 69s had overrider traction bars.  Not sure if overrider traction bars existed before Shelby or whether he invented them.  Maybe Kar Kraft adopted the overriders deriving inspiration from the earlier Shelby cars?  Interesting historical point.  Thank you.

Since you seem intent upon striping the car, I don't think that you can improve upon the combination. I'm not sure why the combination was never offered on the newer cars? Maybe a copyright thing with Hertz?

Hertz cars when they first started were black with gold pinstripes (1920s?) which is why the colors were chosen when SA made the pitch to Hertz. The recent Hertz Camaro's are black with yellow stripes.
When Ford made the 2006 GT Heritage edition they had to shift the hue of the Gulf colors so they didn't get sued. Gulf wanted some $$ per car to use "their colors" and Ford refused to spend the money.

But for some reason I sense that Richard is drawn toward the Alan Mann Heritage GT
You would be correct, sir!  Perfect color combination for a perfect car.  I think Tim Burton of the Shmee150 website used that color combo for his Ford GT.

SAAC covers Shelbys well beyond 1970 to include new ones.  It is my contention that the Boss 302 sub forum should allow for 2012-2013 Boss 302s as well.  And may I supplement that Boss 302s are not Shelbys (unless we are looking at the 1969 Trans Am cars) so perhaps the Boss 302 sub forum should be deleted altogether to keep the forums consistent.

Digital is also an option you can flick with a switch.  I should have featured that as well.  I prefer the analog for oil temperature, air/ fuel ratio, volts, cylinder head temperature, inlet air temperature.

Black and gold like the Hertz cars is my favorite.
Actually come to think of it that would look pretty wild. And on a Laguna no less. It already confuses those who know these cars.

Incidentally, I am reaching a dangerous cross-road regarding the stripes.  These stripes are clearly not the original stripes on this Laguna Seca though Ford should have offered red like they did on the black 2012s.  In any event, the NOS stripes are becoming increasingly difficult to find first off and second, they are getting to an age where they eventually won't adhere anymore if I decided to change the stripes back to original.  The lettering on Boss is wrong.  The font is called "Eurostile_ according to my research, the "S' letters being thinner at the bottom and top.  Hey, I'm starting to be a bit like Bob Gaines et al.  Lol.  Yeah, right.  Not even close.  But I try.  So keep the red or jettison in favor of the original reflective silver tape?

Yes indeed.  I looked at some of the headstones and some where Civil War era burials. I wondered what they would say if they could see the world today if but for a few minutes.  See cars, planes and so on.  See the Boss 302 parked over their eternal resting place.  It would be a totally alien experience for them.

The car might have been her husband's car and when he died in 2022 it became part of his estate and fell into her ownership.  Sheer speculation on my part.  I just finished scouring the 1997 Registry for 1966 Shelby Mustangs for her name/ his name (Richard Blum) in case the news article was mistaken about the year.  Found nothing.  Once again, did not do a deep dive on individual cars.

I just checked the 1997 Registry 001 to 562 and did not see her name nor the name of her last spouse Richard Blum affixed to any of the cars.  Maybe the car was held in a trust?  Or name withheld/ whereabouts unknown and so on.  I did not take a deep dive into the individual histories.  What if the car turned out to be 5R529 and she secretly raced it under a pseudonym, refusing to allow anyone to see under the hood, instead, choosing to pass the car off as a clone.  Unlikely.

Took a joyride this morning to run the gas down.  She poses nicely at White Cemetery on Cuba Road, a haunted road allegedly.

Are you sure he's not the getaway driver they are looking for?
May very well be in a secret life.
