1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Original intake to 6s843
March 11, 2018, 03:49:22 PM
Attached are two photos of 6s843's original intake. One of the holes for the carburetor bolt is stripped out. Question: Worth restoring or better to get the dual plane Blue Thunder aftermarket? All opinions welcome. And if the preponderance of thought leans toward restoration, thoughts then where to send it? Thank you!

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Where I want to be
March 08, 2018, 12:11:34 AM
Amazing what Photoshop can do to enhance what goes on in my mind on a daily basis.  I never tire of this car.  There isn't an angle that I don't like.

Best regards,

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Original Cobra tach
March 04, 2018, 09:45:10 AM
I never painted my Cobra tach and it still bears the patina from the time the car was bought in the beautiful State of California (I see California with rose coloured glasses, I know, but I still hold the state in high regard as just...dreamy).  My questions are two:

1. Repaint professionally or leave as is with chipped flat black paint?

2. What are the specs on the spacers in the dash for the two screws that hold down the tach and the screw size.  Old post with this info was lost regrettably but I recall the screw heads are pan head and someone suggested (might have been acman) to machine two pieces of aluminum tubes as spacers.  If Acman has repros I will buy.

Thank you all,

Richard E.

They are inexpensive and easily purchased at any auto parts store.  I am inclined to go out and buy another one tomorrow and check the expiration date on the one that is currently in the back seat of my car.  Should have it mounted.  Anyone have suggestions how to mount without doing any cutting or drilling?  Thank you.

New story just released.  What happens to a car when a part of its soul is ripped away and to what lengths will an owner take to get it back?

The Lounge / Driverless cars
March 03, 2018, 09:43:28 AM
After still smarting from a ticket for 21 mph over, I got to thinking about driverless cars.  How will governmental entities generate revenue for moving violations when driverless cars hit the ground running?  Will we be responsible for speeding tickets if the car malfunctions or charged with running a red light?  Will the driverless cars even make these kinds of mistakes?  Under either scenario, mistake or not, how will every single governmental body down to the municipal level replace all that lost revenue generated every year in the issuance of moving violations, driving while license suspended and so on?  (You know they will by other means).  I ask most people and they look at me shocked.

The Lounge / New story
March 01, 2018, 11:26:55 PM
Coming soon to YouTube (hopefully by this weekend), a new terror story, this one about a 427 Cobra.   Anyone willing to donate a picture of their 427 Cobra for the collage as I tell the story are welcome to send said photos to Richardelsliger@comcast.net  I have some stock photos I was able to dredge up on the internet but more is better, especially when telling a tale about a 427!

The Capeland Cobra watch has been out a while now so I was wondering if anyone here had an opinion on the quality and the style of this watch offered by Baume et Mercier.

The Lounge / Geico's version of a Boss Mustang
February 18, 2018, 12:06:33 PM
Geico's copywriters apparently can't properly identify a Boss Mustang. Makes one wonder how Geico would handle a collector car claim should one decide to use them as their carrier to insure a "Boss" Mustang.

The Lounge / What motor oil do you use in your Shelby
February 17, 2018, 09:09:15 PM
I personally use a synthetic blend of Motorcraft 10W30.  I presently have a 302 roller rocker in the old gal made to look vintage while the original 289 slumbers in my closet.  Yes, my closet.  I mean hey, even Chopin had his heart cut out and preserved in a jar of brandy and kept in the wall of a church (to this day) so why not a 289 engine which in essence is the heart of an automobile.

The Lounge / How do you wash your Shelby
February 08, 2018, 04:15:26 PM
I've recently viewed the rinseless car wash procedure on YouTube particularly involving a 65 G.T. 350 and wondered if anyone here has an opinion on its viability as an effective means of cleaning the paintwork without getting water in crevices and cracks where it would best be left dry. I am suitably intrigued by the procedure.

With fender flares and blue and white velour interior. Looks kinda hot from exterior in a forbidden borderline sacrilegious sort of way.

The Lounge / Grid girls banned from Formula 1

Well gentlemen, the gynocracy is seemingly getting what it wants.  Or is it?  As we inch closer and closer toward extreme third wave and fourth wave feminism, the clock is actually turning back.  The future is...segregation of the sexes.  It's happening all over corporate America now and presumably Europe as well (Australia included as I hear it is particularly bad there with traffic lights being changed to show a walking woman in a dress as opposed to the standard man).  Men are now flocking to all male lunches where women are not invited by co-workers or bosses.  We have the Pence rule where men do not want to be alone in a room with a female employee.  Men are becoming less likely to want to mentor junior female employees due to the potential for baseless accusations at a later date as far down the road as thirty years from now.  These are not rare examples.  It's becoming rampant.  We're going back to the Middle Ages again and feminism is actually destroying all of their so-called gains.  Do I care?  Not one bit.  I've aged out of dealing with any concerns about what makes a woman happy.  I simply don't care.  Have a lovely day all.

Addendum:  Here is the link to female traffic signals in Australia

The Lounge / The indecisiveness of a squirrel
January 28, 2018, 09:50:08 PM
Should I cross?  Maybe not.  Then maybe.  Then maybe not.  I encountered this very thing today, my 4500 pound Towncar threatening to flatten the little dummy.  Back and forth it went, starting to cross, turning away, starting to cross, turning away.  Classic approach-avoidance conflict is alive and well in the animal kingdom.  Anyone have any thoughts about what they might be thinking?  Do they have bad vision or is it  bad decision making?
