Really nice photo an great post!

I was just going to say, that does look like LAX in the day—which Day—I don't know—perhaps there is a plane aficionado who can identify the make, model  and year of the jet in the background.

I wonder if it's a publicity photo by Shelby?

Tin

If you are referring to the jet shown way in the background just above the rear window of the Shelby, it's a Boeing 727. Probably a 727-100 model which first entered service in February of 1963. It was a favorite of medium haul airlines for over 20 years, finally being retired in 1984.

Spent some time on a few of them. You didn't want to sit near the back, as the triple engines were directly attached to the back end of the main airframe as opposed to being mounted on the wings (two aside the fuselage, one built into the tail). This arrangement made it VERY noisy back there!

Jeff Stephens is a professional wood cabinetmaker in Binghamton, New York and also operates a business called Shelby Wood Steering Wheel Restoration.

He has been restoring Shelby and other wood steering wheels since 1985, and is considered by many to be "the man" for Shelby real wood steering wheel restoration. I have known him probably that long and he has done wheels for me with outstanding results.

Once you buy it (and I know you will :)), I'll take those old hubcaps off your hands ;)

To hell with the hub caps (wheel covers, actually) - I'll take the steel wheels!  ;D

Oh.

This could take a while.
Who remembers "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends?"

That show and Mad magazine shaped my humor.
For that, I apologize in advance.

Don't worry. There are too many here in front of you who need to be forgiven. It's a long line.

Now who remembers Boris & Natasha?

"Badenov - you are bad enough!"

"Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of a hat!" - GRRRRRRR!

And I even have a Rocket J Squirrel coin bank

The Lounge / Courtesy Ford in Littleton, CO

Pletcher Ford in Jenkintown, PA was a big Cobra/Shelby dealer. When they went out of business around 1969/70, Courtesy Ford bought all of their Shelby new car inventory plus some other vehicles. I attached a letter from Pletcher listing the Shelby Mustangs sold to Courtesy by serial number. They also bought Pletcher's remaining 427 Cobra inventory.

I also included a photo of the Pletcher showroom in 1967

Wanted to Buy / C6FE heads

I have a set owned by me since the mid 1970's. Got them at the time from some racer friends. They claimed this set came off of a GT40 that ran at the Daytona Continental. I will sell them now. PM me if you have interest.

Looks to me like '69 351 Windsor - would be correct for a '69 GT350. Boss 302 is similar but has an angled tube.

I have known and done business over the past ten years with Alain Amzallag of Bullit Racing in France. They are located in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and have Shelby experience.

Here is a link to their web site:

I am cheating a bit here in that this '66 GT350 wasn't "my" car but 6S101 was the first Shelby I ever saw. That's 17 year old me in its driver's seat in the Francis For Fords showroom in Harrisburg, PA in November of 1965.

I identified the car years later when friend Roger Cackovic, Sr, who was the de facto FFF "performance car manager' at the time, found the original dealer inventory card in his files.

If anyone knows where 6S101 is today, please contact me! It was last reported in the 1974 SOA Registry as being in Canada.

Wanted to Buy / 2-66 Date coded radiator
January 21, 2018, 03:45:20 PM
Need a 2-66 dated W-MO radiator for a GT350. It is a 4 speed car but one from an automatic may be OK.  Any condition considered so long as the top tank is in good shape.
