1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: '65 Wood Steering Wheels?
January 26, 2023, 09:00:59 PM
Well... I can tell you for a fact my original die cast piece striped out at Laguna Seca in 1977. Scared the hell out of me. Turning the wheel and not the wheels leads to a bad feeling! I'm sure hot race tires didn't help the situation.

I thought I read somewhere the mounting disc was solid, no tabs? Maybe that was '65?

Looking for 289 or 302 short block. Any year OK, really only need a good block, rods, pistons. Don't need pan, heads, cam, front cover, but will entertain any combination. Thanks

The two bracket latches that mount to the hood (large single pin and wire safety loop), what is the correct finish for these two pieces? Thanks in advance.

Saw this topic, thought of Prom night 1973 picking up the girlfriend. Was on Sunset Blvd in San Francisco, a series of straight blocks with stop lights every two blocks, built in christmas trees, so perfect for drag race after drag race. Got into it with a Dodge Charger in the '65 GT350, light after light. Pretty evenly matched, but on the last drag, I made a very quick illegal left to get to the girlfriends house, as the Charger continued straight. What fun!  Arrived at the Prom and girlfriends friend and her date were very, very late. He was disheveled and she very mad. He had been arrested for drag racing, car impounded... dad had to post his bail. Guess who he was drag racing? Anyway, cop told him he was eaiser to catch than the Mustang who pulled the illegal road race left turn. Guess I just lucked out and had a car that could handle well. The Dodge would have never made that turn had the rolls been reversed.

There is an assembly date usually stamped in the flat on the side of the main case .

Have two perfect Cobra posters. One is the 3/63 showing three Cobra's in a turn, one the more common Sebring. Anyone know values? Thanks

Friend has car SFM2249 which has outside hose installed flanges, so we discussed the reason for this. We both thought installing the hose and flange was possible without removing the rear seat and side panels. Since I was about to install the rear brake ducts on 2072, I reached thru and grabbed the hose  to verify if this was possible. It was. I have small hands an shinny arms. Same owner of 2249 owned a SJ '66 fastback (Oct 14 '65 build date), it had the interior plastic sheet.

FYI 2072 scoops were riveted from the inside with 6 aluminum rivets and hose flanges were inside the body.
