5R002 heading to Auction.  Question: Being an "R" Model, every one I have seen did not have a Rear Bumper SO, would you keep or remove the Rear Bumper?

What is the correct paint color for a 428 PI engine in a 1966 Cobra?     I have seen restored Cobras with the engine painted black, dark Ford blue, and light Ford blue.
Black ended after 65 production was over . I posted the 1966 ad. 66 428 PI would be dark Ford blue from the factory. The light Ford blue is what some 6 cylinder engines were painted.

I had a 1966 Ford 7 Liter that had the Black 428 with Gold Valve Covers and a Gold Open Air Cleaner.

Is SAAC going to have a special section of the registry for fake Cobra raffle cars now?

Seriously?  SAAC is trying to do something good and you cut it down? WHY, if you don't like it, don't buy a Ticket, it's that simple.

Just incase anyone is interested...........

Shelby American will be reviving the legendary Mustang Shelby GT500KR. Based on the 2022 GT500 and assembled at Shelby's Las Vegas facility, it'll be offered in extremely limited numbers. With upgraded suspension, a bunch of carbon fiber, and a claimed 900-plus horsepower, it should be the most capable Shelby-badged Mustang ever offered.

KR, in case you're wondering, stands for "King of the Road." Cars wearing the KR nameplate are meant to be the very best of their kind, with every performance part available included to make them as extreme as possible. As the name suggests, it's a sort of apex predator for the streets. Shelby has only offered KR-badged Mustangs twice in the past. The first was in 1968, and then again in 2008.

Judging by the upgrades available on this latest GT500KR, we'd say it lives up to the name. Shelby is able to squeeze an extra 140 hp from the GT500's 5.2-liter V-8 thanks to a new supercharger, bigger heat exchangers, a cold-air intake system, and a Borla exhaust. Suspension-wise, there are stiffer springs, new Ford Performance sway bars, and adjustable camber plates. The MagneRide system has also been recalibrated.

Those wheels are Shelby originals measuring 20 inches in diameter, and come wrapped in high-performance summer tires. Other changes to the exterior include a carbon fiber hood with extra venting, a carbon splitter, a carbon diffuser, and a carbon gurney flap. There's also Shelby-specific striping and badges. You'll be able to option a widebody kit too, but Shelby hasn't released any details or pictures of such an upgrade just yet.

Shelby American plans to build just 225 examples of the GT500KR starting in the first quarter of 2022, with the first set to be auctioned off for charity with Barrett-Jackson. Pricing for the whole car starts at $127,895, though if you already have a GT500, you can send it to Shelby to get KR-ified for $54,995.

Literally a sign of the times, the kids today will never understand how much fun we have driving our stick shifts

That Orange Cone is the Visual Reasoning behind the "No Stick Shift" sign.

I was more referencing the lovely pink "accents"on that particular example of the king cobra, not necessarily the entire genre. The styling doesn't suck. With a cobra r in it or something..... 8)

Those are actually Orange Pin Stripes.  I love the Mustang II's, especially the King Cobra but would like it better with the T-Tops.

Just curious, I have read a few articles in the past where Altitude was discussed that, when it comes to Drag Racing and Speed, Altitude makes all the difference.  Using the same Car, leaving all the adjustments the same, which Track would get the Fastest MPH and which Track would get the slowest MPH?

I wonder how that turned out  :-\

looking at that photo again, could that be an early rear engined car, with the driver at the front ?

Mike

That's Pomona drag strip.

But how the hell would that kind of a collision even happen?   I suspect Photoshop.

The front and underside of the wagon have no marks/dents that I can see.  The engine of the drag car isn't munched.  Nor are its suspension/tires squashed by 2500 pounds of station wagon.   (The last 1500+ pounds would ostensibly be supported by the wagon's rear wheels.)

I think someone stole a pix of the wagon on a tow truck, and melded it with the drag car photo.

BUT:  If the wagon actually did rear-end the drag car, I'd think that the much heavier wagon would just push the drag car ahead.  Not climb on top of it, sprint car style.

Thoughts?

I think the Wagon may have Backed over it.  The Driver thought it was in Drive and hit the Gas and Backed over it.  The Dragster's Frame acting like a Wedge.

That is very cool.

I was wondering.  Watching the TV Show "Counting Cars" the guys went to a Shop to check out their Laser Engraver set up.  It actually did a 3D image of the Metal Plate and then it engraved the inputted design into the metal plate and the guy said it could Engrave just about anything.  It didn't even heat up the metal plate at all and it was super fast.  Could that work on your Tires?  The Laser would outline the Letters and Emblem then engrave everything around them basically shaving the tire sidewall down a little at a time leaving the Letters and Emblems at factory height so all you would have to do is paint them, add the Pin Stripe to the design so it to has the Embossed effect.  You might even be able to do it with the Tire inflated on the Wheel.

I believe this is a 69 since no hood stripes or front spoiler.
