My Shelby has 11.5:1 CR and requires 100+ octane. I've been mixing 1/3 90 octane non-ethanol with 2/3 Sunoco purple 110 to get to about 103 which the engine seems to like. Right now the non-ethanol is about $3.33/gal and the race fuel just jumped from $8.37 to $8.62/gal. At about 10-12 MPG (the way I drive it) it's not the most economical car I own, but the smile it puts on my face is priceless! I'm thankful that I can still purchase this stuff. I just hope the government doesn't screw that up. I don't think that the auto industry lobbyists are watching out for someone like me (us).

I do pretty much the same thing, with the same MPH result. I mix 2/3 93 octane with ethanol, with 1/3 112 leaded race fuel.  Except I am paying about $11 a gallon for the race fuel.... The car really likes it though.

Just my 2 cents regarding original owners.....I purchased #1382, GT-350, in November, 1967 from Reynolds Ford in Syracuse, NY and still own it today with 48,000 miles on the odometer.  Currently in final stages of a restoration to deal with the problems of being stored for 40 years.

You still in the Syracuse area?

I just saw #1412 at the Amelia Island concours this year (2018). Also talked to the owner for a while.  Nice guy, nice car. Some repro stuff and day 2 stuff on the car, but hey, it looks great and he is having a great time with it. Nothing wrong with that.

None came with stripes, so they were all body colored to begin with.  From what I have seen, most that add stripes make them the color of the stripes, which is usually white.  It seems to look better in my opinion.

I'm a little surprised at the number of people using 20-50. Why is that preferred over something like 10-30?

Thanks,
Steve

I use Brad Penn 10-30 in my 67 GT350. 289 solid lifters.

Nice car!  It is interesting that he says he is the last original owner of a 1967 GT350. I know a local guy that is the original owner of his 1967 GT500, also nightmist blue.  I bet there are others out there still.

Pete (and all others of knowledge) - remember it took 9 years to "fine tune" the old forum. And most A-holes eventually learned to play by the rules or left. This re-start will probably also take some tuning. But if you and others like you abandon ship....it's gonna sink.
JMHO

I took a look at the threads discussed here.  IMO the SAAC forum has the reputation of being a place to go for opinions from the best of the best in the vintage Shelby world. Often times people didn't/don't like the advice or information they got about a particular item or car, but a lot can happen in the 50+ years since a car was built and many things can be changed or reproduced..... We "old-timers" (and although I have only owned my Shelby for 18 years, will include myself here) have to stick to our principles that were the backbone of the previous forum.  It is unfortunate that the top experts have lost the recognition they had due to the lost posts, however the cream will rise to the top, and the mainstays here know who you all are.  The crap will sink to the bottom and go away, if we maintain the course we were all on in the previous forum.

I hope the admins have used all the forensics (tools and services) available today to try to get the old forum back. Being in the IT field, it boggles my mind that it can't be recovered.  Just an incalculable loss; I frequently referred to old posts for information. I think we are all feeling the loss deeply, I go back and forth between sad and a bit angry, it's a tough pill to swallow.

Anyway, I will shut up for now.  Onward and upward...

Just as a comment for those looking at the Burton brushed aluminum door panels.  They make only one version as far as I know, the later version.  I know at one time a few years ago they were considering making the earlier version, but I have not seen it.  Others on the forum may know more.  For what it is worth, I have them on my car and they look good and fit perfectly.
