I am replacing the steering components on my 68 GT350 and just wondering if there is a preferred orientation of the cotter pins?  Do they bend up over the end of the threaded stud or side to side around the castellated nut?

If they are supposed to bend up over the end of the threaded stud do you just bend one tang of the cotter pin and leave the other straight or what do you do with the other tang?

Thank you,

Corey

I can tell you I made my hotel reservations and "Shelby Club" was recognized.

Is it only for certain days?  What rate did you get?

I booked from Wednesday thru Sunday. It was $124 per night.

Is there a reason that story can not be shared here?

The Lounge / Perfect attendance at SAAC Conventions?
February 22, 2023, 07:41:46 PM
With SAAC-48 coming up this summer I just got to wondering how many people if any have attended all 47 SAAC conventions?  I still consider myself a newbie and really admire those that have been in this club for so many years.

That is interresting.  Everything I have ever seen has called it Lime Gold but I do not have a 1968 MPC. Probably a lot of colors get more than one name I suppose. Learn something new every day.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Tie Rod Ends replacment
January 29, 2023, 09:45:11 AM
I am doing some work on the steering on my 1968 GT350 with PS and without A/C.  I would like to replace my inner and outer tie rods and the adjustment sleeve while I am at it.  NPD sells concours replacements for 65-66 but apparently not 67 and above.

I looked at WCCC and they have repros (although they are currently out of stock on the inners), does anyone have experience with theirs and can tell me how accurate they are?

Any suggestions on where to get the best repros or better yet nice rebuilt originals?

Thank you,

Corey

Paul,

Yes that is still my cell.  Would love to see the pictures.

It's funny you mention this.  My wife at first rejected the convertible because of the safety aspect.  But we researched it and ultimately she agreed.  I did not specifically go out looking for a convertible, but one popped up in our search that we got for a song.  I can not believe how fortunate we were to find this one.  It is a one owner car that looks and runs great, but has a very interesting story which is why we got it cheap.  Seems no one else was interested because of the back story.  I will just say the back story involves several gun shots.  Car was not occupied at the time so no injuries but there are a few bullet holes here and there.

I love that!  My wife would not allow me to get her a classic Mustang because they do not have air bags and all the safety features.  But my daughter is very excited to go to Cars and Coffee with me in the spring.  Not sure how long that will last but I will take what I can get.

We just bought my 16 year old her first Mustang.  45 years ago I bought my first Mustang and it started my love.  From my daughter's reaction she has been bitten by the bug.
