That reminds me of a saying a wise old engineer taught me back when I was fresh out of college.  He said "do not believe anything you hear and only half of what you read".  This was before the internet so I presume you should believe even less than half of what you read now days ;D

From the bios they had posted by the cars it certainly indicated the 67 and 68 were loaners for sure.  An interesting thing they had in the bio for the 65 Shelby is that it was used to create the engine noise for Eleanor in Gone in 60 Seconds movie.

The hoods were closed. We asked if we could open and they said no.

I am sure this has been discussed on the old Forum but I spent last week in Southern California and visited the Marconi museum.  They had 3 great Shelbys and several other Mustangs as well.  Some other very cool other cars too.  Well worth the $5 donation fee.

Steve,
I am no expert but when I researched the same thing I found that the chrome "ring" is the way they came.
Just a thought though, if your chrome ring has any sharp edges your could chamfer them with a file or Emory cloth. I did not do this but I have not had an issue with it damaging the wood grain.

I am in California this week and am going to check out the OC cars and coffee. Is anyone on the forum going to be there with their car? I would love to say hi.

That looks pretty interesting. Brian if that was something you are definitely interested in I would be willing to check it out for you. I certainly know nothing about Mexican Shelbys or even about that year of Mustang but I can check out overall condition and drivability. Let me know.

Count me in for sure! I am just getting back on the new forum so may be late to the table but I love the idea.

My Shelby at the Dover AFB Wings-N-Wheels car show. #2034. This was a Canadean car its whole life until I bought it a few years ago. It was sold out of Fogg Motors in Vancouver BC and remained there until 2015.
