The Lounge / Keels and Wheels Concours D'Elegance - May 5-6, 2018
« on: May 01, 2018, 11:58:52 PM »
I just happened to stumble onto this show today; which is this weekend in Seabrook, TX just southeast of Houston.

https://www.keels-wheels.com/

I noticed that they have a "Shelby" class and wondered if anyone was entered / heading that way this weekend.  If so, feel free to post or PM me, as I'm thinking about attending.  Could be a really good show to check out!

Thanks!

Up For Auction / 1967 Shelby GT500 - #702
« on: April 23, 2018, 08:02:13 PM »
Maybe I’m being too picky, but it’s hard to see cars listed as “Concours Nut and Bolt Restoration” when you see top stripes and the infamous “Caution Fan” sticker right off the bat.

Am I just being an a-hole?  ???

Up For Auction / 1966 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback
« on: March 30, 2018, 01:17:42 AM »
NOT mine...1966 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback.  Mind you - non-Shelby and non-GT

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/ford/mustang/1993381.html

Nice looking car.  I messaged the guy to find out the price...take a guess.

...$115K or reasonable offer.  What?!?!  I think his asking price takes the word "reasonable" completely out of the picture.  :o

Replicas and Tribute / Shelby GT350R Restomod
« on: March 23, 2018, 02:12:28 PM »
So, I won't try to repost all the build pictures from the old site.  However, I will repost some of the more significant pics, as this car nears the finish line (pun intended).

Here is how I purchased the car:

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / 1968 Shelby GT350 Plug Wire Routing
« on: March 06, 2018, 02:42:28 PM »
Quick question, as I don't have the assembly manuals for 68s - do the spark plug wires route the same way on a 68 GT350 as they do on a 67 GT350 (e.g., the #5 plug wire on a 67 GT350 routes under the #8 & #6 wires on the driver's side)?  A picture would be fantastic, if possible.

Many thanks in advance!  :D

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / 1968 Shelby Windshields
« on: March 05, 2018, 12:30:15 AM »
I believe the subject of windshields has come up with regard to 1967s. However, I’m curious about 1968s.

Would a 1968 GT350 convertible with a 4-speed (non-air car) have come with tint across the top of the windshield?

Thanks!

The Lounge / Sharing your passion with the younger generation...
« on: February 19, 2018, 08:49:03 AM »
Never underestimate the influence you can have on introducing the younger generation to classic cars.

Our next door neighbors have a son who is 12, and he reminds me a lot of myself at that age.  He seems to have a passion for anything with an engine.  He just got an electric powered mini bike for Christmas and loves driving it up and down our street with an ear to ear smile on his face.

The other day, his Dad came by and asked if I would be open to having his son come by to see my cars sometime. Apparently, this young man has noticed many a day/night where I've been working on a car in the garage with the door open, and he wants to come by and see what I'm doing...sound familiar?  This is similar to many, many stories that I've heard of people finding initial interest back in the 60s / 70s.

I know I share in the concern that the passion for these amazing cars will die with current ownership.  However, I believe that the younger generation can become just as passionate about our cars as ourselves - we just need to expose them to it whenever possible.  I also believe that part of the reason people become interested in these cars is because they can see, touch, smell...even ride in them.  I know that my passion started the day I first saw a Shelby in person, as I'm sure was the case for many of us.

Please, let that exhaust sing!  And, please share your amazing cars with others!

Just my 2 cents  :D

I've seen quite a few classic Shelby's for sale that look to be from DenBeste's personal collection...and now this:.

Is DenBeste liquidating everything?

The Lounge / Barn Find???
« on: February 15, 2018, 02:31:39 PM »
So, much like anyone else, I love a good barn find story.

But, is a 2009 Z06 Corvette really a "barn find"?!?  Dust and "original parts" don't (for me) make a barn find.

http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2018/02/15/barn-find-condition-2009-chevrolet-corvette-z06-found-in-storage-unit-up-for-auction.html

Really?  Original parts on a 2009 car...amazing.   ::)

Ford GT / Ford vs John Cena - Ford GT
« on: February 14, 2018, 05:35:53 PM »
The news first broke on the old site that Ford was suing John Cena for flipping his new Ford GT after purchasing it and, apparently, disregarding Ford's 24 month "no resale" clause.

Well, apparently Mr. Cena is firing back...sort of...
