To all,

Please see below, as a 1967 Shelby GT350 (with undocumented owner history - until 3 weeks ago) has been found!  This car is #2666 and I purchased the car just over a week ago from the second owner's estate (Robert Mejia).  The first owner (Daniel Mejia - the first cousin of Robert Mejia) originally purchased the car in 1967 from Mel Burns Ford of Long Beach, CA after he separated from the Air Force.  In 1972, Daniel sold the car to Robert, as Daniel was going through a bitter divorce and wanted to offload the car.  Since its original sale, this car had never left California until it was delivered to my house yesterday afternoon.  This car has had one repaint to black soon after it's original purchase, incredibly original / rust free, and is believed to have 10,454 original miles.

I'm very excited to share this car (and it's story) with all.  The below blog posting via Virginia Classic Mustang (thanks, Brant!) details a little bit about the car's history and ownership.

http://blog.virginiaclassicmustang.com

I'll be bringing this car to the MCA National in Houston, TX next weekend for the "Mustangs Take Flight" show in case you are in the area and would like to see the car.  And, I'd love to meet you all as well!

Many thanks to Aaron Stauber of Big 3 Performance who provided me with the lead on this car (and has restored many cars for me - I would say he's one of my best friends...even before sharing this lead  ;D), Dave Mathews for helping me authenticate and validate the car, and the family of Robert Mejia (especially Mark Castillo - the nephew of Robert) who were so welcoming and willing to share the car's history with me.

For those I consider close friends: my apologies for not reaching out sooner with the good news.  Truly, there were some major hiccups during this journey of 3 weeks (which, at times, felt like 3 years!), and I didn't want to share until the car was safely in my garage.

Have a fantastic weekend fellow Shelby fans!

The Lounge / Can Anyone ID Where this Came From?
March 22, 2019, 01:30:11 AM
Hello!

I recently came across (what looks like) a name tag; which I have pictured below front and back.  It looks like a name tag for a Shelby event of some kind, and I was wondering if anyone recognized where it may have originated.

I know this may be a long shot, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks!  :)

The Lounge / Nerd Pilgrimage Part 2
March 12, 2019, 01:10:56 PM
Today, I flew into LAX. After getting my rental car, I couldn't help but drive past 6501 W Imperial Hwy. Here are some pictures I took.

Much like when I went to the location of the San Jose Plant, it was really amazing to see the area and picture what it would've been like in the 60s.

So cool for a geek like me! 🤓

Not mine, and it looks like a screaming deal to get all that's listed for $500!

Good luck to all!  :D

The Lounge / The former San Jose Ford Plant
February 19, 2019, 05:47:25 PM
I'm in the area this week for work (about 15 minutes north of the old plant; which I understand is now a mall that was converted from the plant in 1994).

I understand there's a small display in the mall and a plaque outside. Is this worth visiting? Anything else Ford / Shelby related to see in the area?

Thanks !

PS - my relentless efforts in finding a San Jose firewall pad had nothing to do with my interest in seeing these hallowed grounds.  ;)

Parts For Sale / New Concours 67-70 Power Steering Hose
February 04, 2019, 01:06:32 AM
I have a new (never mounted) concours correct power steering hose from Blue Dot Specialities, LLC.  This is the HP to valve hose - C8ZA 3494-A.

This hose will fit all 67 to 70 Shelbys with the exception of the early 67 Shelbys, as they have a different size fitting at the Power Steering Control Valve.

Cost new is $74.51.  I'll sell this one for $65 plus the ride.

Thanks!

Parts For Sale / 1967 Restored Jack
February 04, 2019, 12:23:26 AM
This is a restored 1967 Jack with the correct corse threads and 13/16" head.  This jack carries a date code of "7E" and has the letter "A" stamped on top for Ausco, who was one of the distributors of 1967 jacks.

The jack is in excellent shape, and there is one corner on the base that had seen some corrosion (please see the attached picture).

$225 plus the ride.

Thanks!

This jack has been fully restored and has the correct thread (fine threads as per the Magstar Jacks) and the correct 3/4" drive head (which matches the lug wrench that would have come with a Magstar equipped Shelby).

This jack also has a "7E" date stamp.

$425 plus the ride.

Thanks!

I have a set of original trunk taillight boards that I removed from a 1968 Shelby I no longer own.  The boards are in pretty good shape as shown by the pictures.

SOLD!

Thanks!
#94
I have an original 1968 Shelby Convertible Trunk Divider Board that was installed on a Shelby I no longer own.  The board is in very good shape, especially given the abuse they take over the years.

The black side (which faces the trunk) has some minor scratches, but could be easily repainted.

$265 plus the ride.

Thanks!

Appeals / Help Identifying a Third Member
February 03, 2019, 06:20:58 PM
I've had this third member for a while, but I've not taken the time to identify it specifically, and I could use some help.

As you'll see, there appear to be original markings on the housing (I spend some time today cleaning it up).

Please let me know your thoughts - thanks!  :)

Seemingly small ask compared to my last posting  ;).

I'm looking for a show quality or NOS 1967 Mustang non-tilt emergency flasher knob.  I've gone through a ton of Scott Drake versions, and they ALL have stripped out on the threaded piece.

Please let me know - thanks!

Interesting.  Too bad the details of the settlement are undisclosed - mostly because I'm nosey  ;)

However, per the article, we probably won't see another of the latest Ford GTs crossing the block at Mecum soon.
