Thanks for sharing, and congratulations on the purchase.

The Thunderbolt hood is great to see, since so many Fords in that era raced with those.

And great that you have a pic of it racing! I am jealous, as a few years ago I picked up a 66 k code coupe that had been raced and parked. While it came with the racing stable and driver name still painted on the doors, I haven't been able to track down a photo of the car from that period. (At least, not yet. Still searching.)

Thanks for posting, Bob. It has been a long time since I saw a reproduction filter of such poor quality. They seem to be much better now, but the lip of the sleeve on the best ones can still be seen under close inspection. And I'm not sure the dimensional differences are always so great — I've seen various NOS filters of (at least) slightly different size. I'm guessing multiple facilities might have been involved in making them, or perhaps the tooling varied from time to time?

Geez. They even posted a shot of the full Ford VIN on the block.  :o
I don't understand.  I thought Ford didn't start stamping VIN's into blocks until 1968.  How does a 65 have a VIN stamped block if this didn't become a manufacturing norm until three years later?

QSS

The Hipo blocks were VIN stamped in 65, 66 and 67 due to the shorter warranty Ford provided for the K-codes.

I can see the photos just fine.

Don't know about out the origin of the engine, but it is my understanding that retaining straps are sometimes added to the core plugs of an engine that has a high pressure cooling system. I believe it is intended to reduce the amount of coolant that gets dumped on a track if a plug fails. I'm not a racer and haven't used these straps myself, but I'm guessing several people here have first-hand experience and can confirm if the reasons I've been told ... hold water.

(I will show myself out).

Yes, I was anxious to see these results. Thanks for posting.

I had the XPEL product applied (professionally) to my non-Ford daily driver — entire front clip, around rear wheel wells, on side mirrors and headlights, etc. — and have been quite pleased with the results. Really handles minor environmental debris, nearly invisible if installed correctly, and it has more than paid for itself by protecting the paint from minor abrasions. It's good stuff and I would recommend it for higher-end vehicles.

I sure am happy to see a few old members drop the mask of a alias name on the forum and use something closer to their given name . I hope more do that.

Agreed, but I was briefly tempted to re-register as Gob Baines, just to mess with you.

(Counting down to someone doing that in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...)
