I picked up this '68 Shelby brochure originally from Gilboy Ford in Allentown, Penn.  I haven't seen much from this dealership in the past.  According to one of the SAAC annuals they sold 62 Shelbys.  I also found a newspaper ad from the Morning Call newspaper in Allentown.  Below is a link to a much better image than the attached photo.

Appeals / Indoor Car Cover Recommendation for Cat Owners
February 01, 2024, 01:54:08 PM
It's time to give our indoor 1-1/2 year old sibling cats full run of the house.  This includes the garage (ouch!).  Looking for recommendations for an indoor car cover that would provide maximum protection from potential cat scratches.  I now use a couple of inexpensive covers with donated blankets, throws, comforters, etc. underneath.  They worked previously with our other cats but what a hassle!  Looking to be able to just use a cover only on each car to simplify things.  Any other cat + Shelby owners out there?  Thanks, in advance, for any recommendations.

Appeals / Cobra Oil Pan Stripped Drain Plug Hole
November 12, 2023, 11:30:35 PM
Turns out the drain plug hole on my '66 Hertz aluminum oil pan is stripped.  Looks as if this isn't a new issue as the plug that was in there is a self-threading one (see pic).  It always dripped a bit and I thought replacing the old nylon washer would help.  The situation is worse as there are just not enough threads remaining.  I have a temporary plug in there now which works just fine.  What's the preferred permanent fix short of removing the pan.  I'm leaning towards a self-tapping piggyback unit.  Thoughts?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Valve Cover Oil Baffle
November 04, 2023, 02:59:21 PM
These Cobra valve covers on my '66 Hertz were there when I purchased the car in 2004.  They have the rounded, not squared, bolt hole areas and are not correct.  I have a question regarding the inner baffle where the oil fill tube is.  If you look at the picture there is the smallest of openings at the bottom area and it takes FOREVER to add oil.  I'll be switching valve covers in the near future but just wondered if anyone has come across this before.  I don't have the other set of valve covers readily available for comparison.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Caliper Crossover Tube Issue
October 04, 2023, 08:52:12 PM
I finally got around to buying 5 new tires (BF Goodrich T/A's) for my '66 Hertz and having them installed on a set of correct chrome Magnum 500 wheels.  When I purchased my Shelby in 2004 it came with Ford chrome Magnums in a 14 x 7 size.  Tires were 195-70's all the way around.  Now I'll be using 205-70's.  I opted to have just 2 of the tires mounted on rims so that I could check to see if there were any issues up front with rubbing.  Well I installed both fronts and sure enough there was rubbing!  However, the noise was a grinding noise and not from the tires.  Turns out it was the caliper crossover tube that was rubbing lightly on the inside of the wheel only on the driver's side.  Fortunately I didn't drive beyond our cul-de-sac!  I used a little gentle persuasion and all is good.  The calipers & rotors are not original but new repo ones recently installed.  Now I can have the other tires mounted and finish this project.  Always something!

Most of us know that the Motor Wheel Co manufactured the chrome Magnum 500 wheels for the '66 Hertz Shelby.  The wheels are usually marked with 795c or 795 which is one of the indicators for a correct wheel.  Mopars use a similar wheel with that marking but with a different backspacing.  There's a current eBay auction for some Olds wheels with a 833c marking.  I obtained some 14x6 chrome Magnum 500 wheels many years ago with a different profile and a 842c marking.  Does anyone know the application for wheels with this number?  Thanks!

Several years ago I was able to acquire an original '67 HiPo Autolite 4100 carb.  Tag number is C7ZF-B which according to Bob Mannel's great book decodes as being for a California '67 K-code Mustang with Thermactor exhaust emission system and 4-spd.  Per his book there are differences between this '67 carb and the correct C6ZF-F carb for the '66 Hertz with automatic trans.  My question is would I be able to use this carb, without jet/booster changes, on my Hertz?  There is a Holley on there now from a 390 GT Comet!  The '67 carb was completely rebuilt about 10 years ago by Kurt at KP Carbs.  This is a rare carb when compared to K-code Mustang production numbers for '67.  Ideally it would be nice to swap this carb for one that's correct for for my Hertz.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a tire size recommendation for my '66 Hertz.  I'll be utilizing the correct 14" magnum wheels (3.375" backspacing) and the A-arms have been lowered 2".  What's currently on there now are factory Ford chrome magnums with P195/70R14 tires.  The overall width of the rims is 8" so I'm thinking these are probably 6" rims.  The backspacing is 4-1/4".  How much tire can I comfortably use without issue considering the wheel will be outwards almost an inch.  Thanks very much!

I'm looking for a hood mounted windshield washer nozzle for the driver's side on my '06 GT-H.  Tried to find one of these years ago but no luck.  Thought I'd try again.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I've attached a photo of the one on the passenger side.

I finally got around to working on the rear brakes on my '66 Hertz.  Left rear was smoking on the way home one day so I knew I had to investigate.  Too many other things going on around the house with higher priority kept me from getting to it sooner.  I'm now working on the driver's side rear.  The cable going to the adjuster bracket had broken.  Brake shoes had been installed backwards who knows when.  Shoe material is cracked with a strange wear pattern and there is also some shoe material missing on one of the upper/lower edges.  They're a mess!  I have the new parts installed.  Problem is the drum will not go on without some persuasion.  I had to remove it by gently using a hammer.  The self adjuster is at its shortest length and the top portion of the shoes is at the pivot pin.  I've attached some pics.  I also loosened the bleeder screw on the brake cylinder.  I'm thinking that something might be tweaked, possibly the drum?  Any other ideas?

I'm finally getting around to doing the rear brakes on my '66 and have a question regarding the rear self adjusters.  The hardware kits come with a washer which I know they should.  The kit I have for the left driver side has a curved spring loaded washer while the kit I have for the right side contains a flat washer.  Is it correct to have 2 different types?  The old adjuster from the left, which is the side I'm working on, has no washer at all!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
