My dad didn't even want dealer license frames on his car.  He would say "why should I provide them with free advertising?"

I'm all for the lighter weight of the small block.  There's something to be said for tweaking those extra horses out of fewer cubes.  I've had both and working on a 289-302 is a breeze compared to the tight quarters of the big block (grrrrrrr!).  But I wouldn't throw one out of bed if you know what I mean.  My first Shelby which was a '67 Lime Gold GT500.  Price was right and that's why I purchased it.  Beggars can't be choosers and that was nearly 40 years ago!  Second time around I had a chance to be a bit more selective and purchased a '66.

I was one of the 85 that viewed your thread but, unfortunately, had nothing of any significance to contribute.  Many times I'm viewing threads to learn so that maybe I'll be able to contribute down the road.

Much appreciated, Pete!  Time to grab a big cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy browsing the Coralsnake.  Keep up the great work!

Never been.  Need to get up there to see just how big it really is!  I have no excuse since I live on the west coast AND I'm retired.  Largest meet I've been to is the January Turlock and the old Sacramento meet at Sleep Train arena.  Now that it's been moved to Cal Expo, it just doesn't seem to be as large.  Portland's definitely on the list!

Great story and very nice pictures!  I would classify the first one as a "model with a Shelby" picture candidate.  Thanks for sharing.

Craig, We need a photo of both your Hertz cars side by side. Now that would be COOL! Denny

That's in the works, Denny.  Will get both Shelbys out of the garage and have them pose for a picture!

Here's the companion to our black '66 Hertz.  One picture shows delivery day while the other is the car safe at home.  We purchased car in August of 2016 with approximately 15K miles.  Vehicle never saw rental service.

Here's today's flea market find.  It's a Ford High Performance Parts catalog along with a letter signed by high performance manager Al Rivera at the now defunct S&C Motors in San Francisco, CA.  Many, many high-perf cars were sold through this dealership.  Enjoy!

Not exactly a model, but not all that bad for an ol' gal !

She's very attractive and posing for a picture.  Definitely a model by my definition!
