1965 GT350/R-Model / 65 R tach
May 06, 2021, 11:40:08 AM
I have a question about the 1965 R model tach, were they cable drive? I know there are not many around out there, what are they worth?

1965 GT350/R-Model / R model guages
January 07, 2021, 11:23:03 PM
Does anyone know why the R models and I guess the 66 trans Am coupes had white needles on the tach and other instrument's instead of orange colored like the street cars? It seems that the orange ones would be easier to scan during a race.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Shelby Ranchero GT
September 01, 2020, 11:54:50 PM
I have heard of various ultra rare cars of most types (Ranchero, or various other Ford cars) from people at car shows whose brother or uncle had "connections with Shelby" and were able to get their cars modified on the assembly line at Shelby American and there fore they were legit Shelby cars. All ridiculous for hundreds of reasons but I was just looking at an old Jan. 1986 issue of The Ford Enthusiast magazine and an article says that there was indeed a 1978 Ranchero Shelby GT that was made on the Southfield Michigan Shelby Automotive facility (surely it was not operational eight years after production of Shelbys ended). The article goes on to show a not very good picture of a window sticker and various door tags and description of the vehicle and how Ford pushed this through for their 75th anniversary celebration. This car was owned by a Ranchero club member. This is too bizarre for belief but has any one ever heard of this one way or another?

CSX 2000 Series / questions on early Cobra
June 20, 2020, 04:03:19 PM
Did the 260 engine used in early Cobra's use the same stronger rods , solid cam and thicker main caps the 289HP used? Also why did Herbie Hancock's Cobra come with a two barrel carb?

Has anyone seen a yoke like this one on a newly acquired 9 inch center section, what application would this be for?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Traction bar brackets
May 18, 2020, 04:04:01 PM
These are some traction bar brackets removed from a 66 GT350 that was headed to the junk yard after being flipped end over end back in 1977. Most of the brackets I have seen only have 3 bolt holes. I removed these myself from what I was sure was a GT350.

Replicas and Tribute / Engine block info
May 16, 2020, 11:04:43 PM
I have a 65 fastback r-model replica that i run in open track and I have found 302 block that I have little or no info on. It is a D8VE-6015-A3A that came out of a Lincoln. These are supposed to be just like the Mexican 302 block with large main caps. Anyone know of these, how are they not well known?

Vintage Disney tickets found, most of you don't remember Autoland with it's rides, including the GT-350R drive and for the young children, the Corvette adventure ride. Those were the good old days!

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Don Roberts RIP
August 22, 2019, 06:42:39 PM
The winningest Cobra driver has passed away. He was an amazing driver who could win in almost anything he drove, not to mention one of the nicest guys around. I knew him when I was in the Air Force in Phoenix in the middle 70's and saw him win in several Cobras including the Clifton Hill climb driving Mike Shoen's Daytona Coupe. I will never forget when he was trailering one of Shoen's FIA Cobra's into Phoenix International raceway as a favor to me to be used as the pace car for an SCCA National road race. The entire paddock area had a fit as these corvette drivers thought he had shown up to race his old Cobra and were really upset as they knew they were in big trouble if he was in the race. He will be missed!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67owners manual
May 27, 2019, 01:15:37 AM
I used to own a 67 GT500 and I still have what is left of the original owners manual and I noticed that on the backcover it says Shelby Automotive and not Shelby American. It is printed in black and white and the car # was about 1500 or so. Any thoughts on this?

What is the story on the 67 Shelby? T/A car sold recently that is listed on the B/J site as an authentic Shelby car but according to the registry it is was completely destroyed in 1972. The selling price of $120k does seem very low for a documented car. Re body or what?
