In 2013 here in California at the Saac convention open track event i was talking to Gary Patterson, the VP of Shelby American and he predicted that in my 2007 Shelby GT that I would not have any problems with the majority of the GT 500s on this track which was the California Speedway and after I ran I was amazed to find out he was right. I expected the 500 hp cars to blow by me but that was not really the case as the better suspension on the Shelby GT compensated for the power deficit. Now on a drag strip it would be a different story. These cars handle amazingly well. Lookup the 2010 Royal Purple forum challenge. A 2008 Shelby GT took on and placed 1st overall against a whole bunch of different types of fast cars, it was an amazing feat.

Thanks for the info, I guess they wired the other R model pumps in with the ignition switch.

Does anyone know what the second white toggle switch on the dash is for?

I have talked with him on several occasions at car shows in So Cal and he is truly a wonderful guy and is very proud of his car and will cheerfully tell you about it and his stories about Mr. Shelby.

CSX 2000 Series / Re: questions on early Cobra
June 20, 2020, 05:58:39 PM
Thanks a lot, I have been looking for that info for a long time. In the case of the Hancock car you would think that if they simply did not have enough 4 brl manifolds on hand they would have later replaced it after the sale.

CSX 2000 Series / questions on early Cobra
June 20, 2020, 04:03:19 PM
Did the 260 engine used in early Cobra's use the same stronger rods , solid cam and thicker main caps the 289HP used? Also why did Herbie Hancock's Cobra come with a two barrel carb?

Did the 67 GT350 with auto trans use the holley 715 or the Ford Autolite carb?

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / 9 inch yoke type

Has anyone seen a yoke like this one on a newly acquired 9 inch center section, what application would this be for?

Thanks for the info. I can't say for sure it was genuine, but it did have a vin fender tag, which for 1977 was not common on a clone.

It was definitly a white with black Le mans stripes 1966 Shelby that I have forgotten the serial# as its been 43 years. I was driving and saw a stripped out GT 350 on a flatbed and I stopped them to find out what happened to the car. They told me about how the drive shaft catapulted the cat end over end and every piece of sheetmetal was bent. They had removed any usable pieces and they let me remove the traction bar mounts, the bars were bent. Also what does service parts mean, are they replacement or over the counter?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Traction bar brackets
May 18, 2020, 04:04:01 PM
These are some traction bar brackets removed from a 66 GT350 that was headed to the junk yard after being flipped end over end back in 1977. Most of the brackets I have seen only have 3 bolt holes. I removed these myself from what I was sure was a GT350.

Replicas and Tribute / Re: Engine block info

It seems strange that Ford would put a more stout engine in a Lincoln instead of maybe the F-150 truck.

Replicas and Tribute / Engine block info
May 16, 2020, 11:04:43 PM
I have a 65 fastback r-model replica that i run in open track and I have found 302 block that I have little or no info on. It is a D8VE-6015-A3A that came out of a Lincoln. These are supposed to be just like the Mexican 302 block with large main caps. Anyone know of these, how are they not well known?

Maybe I missed it, but why is he selling off such a big part of his life? This was not just a passing fad with the sheer amount of cars and assorted items he is going to sell.
