1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / New Tires
March 30, 2024, 12:30:05 PM
Getting for the "final countdown" to 250,000 miles I changed the old BF Goodrich to the Goodyear Polyglas Fr70-14 radials. Look nice but I am heading for a drive to see how they ride and handle

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Numbers on seat
November 29, 2023, 08:13:42 AM
Here's a few pictures of a 1966 GT350 with original seats that the owner has owned since 1969. They are faded but appear to be the car number written on the bottom of the seat back. It was used to make sure the seats were returned to the correct car when the interior was removed to install the side scoops and side windows according to information supplied to the owner

Has anyone else have more information on this unique piece of seat information?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Glad I checked them
November 03, 2023, 05:20:16 PM
I drive my car a lot and recently I noticed the brakes were a little "grabby", especially when cold. While backing into a parking sport last Saturday I noticed that the left rear brake had a grabbing rubbing noise. Well today I decided to do a little maintenance in the driveway on the car. I don't have a garage so most work is done either in the driveway or sometimes in the trailer where it is stored.  I had thought perhaps the rear shoe had become loose or even debonded even though they are riveted, or perhaps one of the hold down pins had broken. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the left rear wheel cylinder was leaking and had begun to saturate the lining. I had ordered earlier in the week replacement shoes and hardware but had neglected to get wheel cylinders. Luckily in my supply of parts I buy to keep on hand I had a set of rebuilt original small bleeder rear wheel cylinder . A few hours later after a lot of clean up I took the car for a test drive and I guess I hadn't noticed how bad the braking had become. They are now smooth and progressive and no groaning and moaning when cold. I also switch ed the tires and wheels from the original Goodyear Blue Streaks to the tried-and-true BF Goodrich T/A radials.  The weather is turning colder and I want to get a few more rides in before the weather gets crappy but I guess the lesson is to be more aware of things and check them a lot more.

Last year I had my car on loan to the Mustang Owners Museum. While there someone apparently "borrowed" or perhaps to be more correct , stole this item from under the back seat. It's a Hertz suit bag but not just any old Hertz unit bag but one from the White House Press Corp. I'm hoping that whoever took it will take it upon themselves to return it with no questions asked. If they try and sell it just know you are buying a stolen object. It disappeared between approx Feb- May 2022. They also took a segmented rear brake shoe
Looking for any leads

Covid slowed the progress towards the goal of driving the car 250,000 miles but just last week I cleared the 245,000 mark
Hopefully will be there by the next SAAC convention

You fold the back seat down and load it as full as you can 😎
It always amazes people when they see it driven "as a regular car"
Can also drive it in the rain in traffic

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Almost there
December 27, 2022, 10:09:07 PM
Covid took a little more than two years of prime driving time away, so today in 27 degree weather I decided to go for a ride. The sun was shining the roads were pretty clear so I went on some errands to pick up some car parts for my nieces Jeep and some other few side trips, during this drive I crossed the 243,000 mile barrier
I usually go out on Dec 31st and follow that up with a drive on Jan 1st. The weather forecast looks not too good for those days so this might be the last one for this year
All in all a great day

In 1978 I paid 15% for a car loan for a 12 year old used car. So everyone quit complain about 6% loans

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Nice Day for a ride
August 19, 2022, 02:45:08 PM
Todays was a nice day so I switched tires for the Goodyear BlueStreaks to go to a judges show next week and went for a short ride to test them out. They look nice but they truly are not a good tire selection for driving
But they do look nice
