Was invited to show my car at the Philadelphia Concurs de' Elegance, was parked real close to the Daytona Coupe. Was honored to be near a bunch of really historic cars and classics, plus it was for a great cause "Cool Cars for Kids"

Want to be part of the best thing at a SAAC convention?
Then volunteer to help, that help with registration, t shirt sales, car show registration, vote counting, any part of it will allow you a behind the scenes look, help make the convention better, and the best part is you get to see everyone
I suggest you offer your time to help out at least one or more shift
Do it, you'll never regret it

Taking the car to some AACA shows and other ones where it needs to be more "original" rather than "driver"
So I put on the restored Magnum 500's with reproduction Goodyear Blue Streaks.
Won't be driven any distance, but it will be as close to original as I can make it
First time on the original wheels since the late 80's (thanks to Shelby Parts and Restoration) and first time on Blue Streaks since it probably left Shelby American in 1966
Just have some more cleaning to do

The Lounge / Delta Bay Mustangs
June 09, 2021, 06:18:35 PM
Has anyone had any dealings with this company, I ordered something almost a month ago and they haven't answered any e-mails and i was only able to get them on the phone once with a promise of shipping information "Soon"
Two e-mails this week have gone unanswered and now the phone number says "the call cannot be completed at this time" Did they go out of business? Can anyone in the area of this business go by and pick up the part I ordered and send it to me  and I'll pay you for your time and shipping or is this one of those "life lessons learned" and I'll have to write this one off
Order Number is R149194319 MICO master cylinder bracket
Thanks

Does anyone have a source and pictures of the correct gasket and or spacer that goes on a 1966 car with the autolite carb.   It seems like every gasket set up I try eventually has a vacuum leak under the carb
This would be the gasket between the carb and the intake
Thanks

I had purchased car 1431 in 1971 and in 1978 had a chance to purchase another GT350H, this one was 1855. found some of the paperwork from the purchase.
It took two years to pay it off at 23 payments of $99.11. My oh my, times have changed
We sold it for $5,000 to buy our first house, should have kept it.

The Lounge / Looking for “lost” engines
May 30, 2021, 10:12:24 AM
Years ago we had a friend that owned a Donzi boat with an alleged 289 HiPo that had been swapped out when the harmonic balancer slipped. He swapped it out for a 302 and kept the 289 for years until dumping in the woods maybe 20 years ago. This weekend he returned from Florida and we went searching for the engine.
After walking around in the tick infested woods we found it, laying in a ditch. We had to get the tractor to lift it out. He had changed the heads to a 302 style back in the late 60's and we were hoping at least parts of the short block were HiPo (cranks, rods, hatchet weight, etc)   To say it was in rough shape was an understatement, apparently water had collection in the heads and split the coolant chambers, the block was covered in dirt and we couldn't get any of the pan bolts loose. So we cut the pan off hoping to find the elusive HiPo 289.
Unfortunately it seems to be either a 302 J code or a 289 D code, no HiPo parts were in this block
He now thinks that may be the "other engine" and the 289 HiPo is in "the other garage" at his other house
The search continues

I understand the next issue of the Shelby American will have a cover story on the exact placement of the "Caution Fan" decals
This will be available today only according to sources close to Rick Kopec

Putting together a display of unique Hertz parts and accessories
Anyone have a MICO master cylinder for sale? It's for display only so it doesn't have to be completely functional just has to have all the parts to look correct

Have a stock GT350 with non lowered control arms and am wondering about what's the best 14" tire that won't rub on the fenders
Any suggestions, tires on the car are approaching 6 years old and it's time to replace them

The Lounge / Firewall insulation and trunk mat
January 22, 2021, 03:43:22 PM
Had a gentleman with a San Jose built coupe that wanted some work done on it but the car has more problems than anticipated (doors are rotted out, has holes in the roof from removal of vinyl top, cowl rotted out, interior needs replacement, etc) he has decided to get rid of the car. In looking the car it has an original trunk mat in great shape, and a "dimpled" firewall insulation pad that appears to be undamaged
We are trying to talk him into letting us remove these items and sell them for him
Any ideas on the value?
Will post pictures this weekend

The Lounge / Christmas Gift
December 28, 2020, 10:34:56 AM
Received for Christmas the movie "Ford V Ferrari" We saw it in the movie theater and I know it take some liberties with the story, but it seems to capture the magic that must have been in the air in those times.
It must have something to have been there at Shelby American  from 1962-67

Regional Shows and Events / Last Ride of the Year
December 26, 2020, 10:07:05 AM
As I've done for many years on Dec31st, I'll take my "Last Ride of the Year" with the  the "Dumpster Fire of a Year" 2020 hopefully behind us I'm hoping that 2021 will be better. Since I'm pretty much been self quarantined since March I won't have a lunch stop like I've done in previous years. The route I'm looking at will take me down through Southern Maryland from Chesapeake Beach into St Mary's county at Solomons and back up through Charles County, should be a nice 100+ mile trip.
Anyone want to tag along? Will probably start around noon or so

The Lounge / The Bullitt car and 5R002
October 02, 2020, 12:36:45 PM
Does anyone know if the Bullitt car and "The Flying Shelby" are going to be on display anywhere?
I hate when cars are bought and then "disappear" for view

Wanted to Buy / Hertz stuff
September 24, 2020, 03:35:28 PM
Looking for Hertz stuff from the 1966 time period. Looking for the drink glasses, suit bag and whatever else's that might be out there. Somebody has got to be tired of looking at the stuff you have stored away, now's the time to think about selling it. Trying to put together an awesome display case of this stuff for the 2021 MCACN Show
If you want to loan something for the display that would be great also

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / T10 overall length
September 19, 2020, 03:51:47 PM
Got a chance to pick up a free T10 four speed, it was used in a full size Ford 62-63 era. What is the overall length of the T10 used in the Shelby GT350 in 66. Might want to change mine over to a 4 speed one day if this will fit   This one is 26 1/2 inches long
