I am positive that the backing plates on 6s281 are original, they are numbers
70390 and 70391, stamped KH and Ford oval. 281 was born at Ford in the First or second week of October 65.  I would post pictures if needed but it's such a pain. Hope it helps.

 As I am getting Close to beginning the restoration on 6S281, one of the last few hard-to-find items I need are the correct date heads. I would prefer July or August 1965 units but would consider June also.
I would prefer non-ported, original rebuidable heads for this project. I have a pair of November 2 65 heads that Doug Anderson recently checked and gave them a perfect bill of health, would be willing to trade these or just purchase yours out-right. Greatly appreciate any and all help, I just know the perfect heads I need are sitting and waiting to begin their new adventure on 281  Thanks, Karl
