1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Long shot - brake drums

Cobra Automotive offers the 10X 2 1/2 brake drums. Here is a link to the web page from the catalogue.
https://store.cobraautomotive.com/competition-rear-brake-drums/

As mentioned before, the Ford Rangers and Aerostar Vans had 10 X 2 1/2" brakes. The drums should be available at almost any auto parts store for quick and cheap delivery. Check the internet for some info, but for a quick and cheap fix, I would give this a try. Good luck making it to the show.

I requested pictures of the 571 carburetor and received 5 separate email all with the exact same three pictures. None of them showing the full carb and all of the drivers side of the carb. I'm not claiming the seller is scamming. But like Tim, my antennae are up and I urge caution as well.

Comments are welcome on these rims being original and for a Shelby or not. These are not mine.   Asking price is $3,000.

Brian, thanks for all of your time to post the links and also the final results.

I noticed in the picture of Pete Brock discussing the wheel/tire combination with the two guys, it appears a spare tire may be rolling straight for the front fender and headlight of the Cobra parked behind the Coupe.

I see this on Craigslist. Not mine but could possibly be a match for your car.

Thanks for the reply Bob. My thought is that the snaps would most likely be in a different spot also based on the different interior quarter panels.

On 1968 models- would you point out the differences in the convertible top boot that came with the Shelby and those that came with the standard Mustang? The goal of this question is to find out if one can be used as a template to make a boot for the other.
Thanks

Here is one for sale currently on CL. $3,500. If that is a good indicator, they have indeed jumped in price.

Bob, is there a write-up anywhere on the engine installation? Did they install engine and transmission together? Did they remove the valve covers for extra clearance? How did they handle the install of the exhaust manifolds? What was the work-around clearing the Master Cylinder? The installation sequence and methods would be most interesting. Are you aware of any pictures of engine shipments? That would be very cool also to see 100 or so 428s lined up and ready to go to California.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: GT 500 Water Pump Sealing
February 23, 2022, 07:30:39 PM
Hi Bill, Permatex makes a specific sealant for Thermostats and Water Pumps that I have used with very good results over the years. It is available at most any auto parts store. This is to seal the gasket and it is different from the Thread Sealer previously recommended.

As a side note, I like to take a small amount of liquid dishwashing soap and smear a thin coat inside the ends of the radiator hoses when installing. This helps slide them on easily. The dishwashing soap dries leaving a good seal when the hose is in place. This has worked well on heater hoses also. It also makes it very easy to remove the hoses right away when you realize your forgot to install the band clamps before sliding the hoses in place (ask me how I know).

In the pictures in Bill' post #6 of the line up of cars, it appears one of the cars is a R Model? With lettering and a number on the side? Would this have been for sale? Or just lined up with the street Shelby's to generate excitement?
      Great pictures. Thanks for posting.
