I'm running an old SSS cast aluminum COBRA oil pan and need a dipstick and tube.  Should I use the original C7OE-6750-A stick or something else since it's deeper and holds more oil?

Hoping there's someone who has suggestions based on experience here... rather than drop tons of $$$ on the correct Carter fuel pump, water pump, cast crank pulley, radiator, shroud, fan and clutch for my early '67 I want to get it running and driving with new/alternate parts that will function well.  Not real concerned about looking stock, since the missing hood and polished velocity stacks will sort of give it away anyways.  Eventually I will collect all the correct stuff, but not at this time.  So... any suggestions for sourcing decent aftermarket parts like radiators, shrouds, fans, crank pulley, water pump, and also a fuel pump?
Again I do plan to eventually find and install the correct items down the road... but not now.  Need to get this rig running and driving first.  Thanks in advance!

Still need some parts for my Jan 18 built 67 GT500 4 speed no A/c:
crank pulley C1AZ-6A312-C, radiator and shroud, fan clutch, water pump, fuel pump, coil.
Not opposed to using the slightly larger '68-70 radiator/shroud setup if available.

Perfect.  Thank you for the detailed help!

Putting humpty dumpty back together, and somehow lost the pictures I took of the brake master area before disassembly.  Is there a brake line routing or diagram anywhere for an early (Jan 67) car?  Need to see where the dist block/cigar valve and hard lines all go.

For my other drivers, I have used the NAPA brake parts with success.  Doing my 67 GT 500 now, looking for decent quality brakes and hardware to be driven, not judged for correctness.   Already have the original calipers restored by Goldline Brakes, new rear wheel cylinders from Branda, as well as a set of NOS rear drums.  Just need front pads, rear shoes and rear hardware.

Howdy again, inching forward on my 67 500 and now I'm looking at this ratty original C5AF dual point distributor.  Anyone out there specialize in rebuilding these units?  I've never torn one down and don't really want to experiment on this one.  It's complete but crusty, and I'm not opposed to shelving it and using a modern replacement that appears close to stock, using dual ignitors instead of points.  Any ideas?

As I reassemble this GT500, I am using the original harnesses (rebuilt by Midlife) under the dash and to the tail lights.  As for under the hood, he recommended going with new since mine were trashed completely.  And preferred manufacturers for a solid replacement harness - headlight, gauge feed and alrernator?  It's a 4 speed GT500 built in Jan '67 with inboards and no A/C.

Looking for advice on the best way to prep a vintage cast aluminum COBRA T-pan for my 428.  It's an original "SSS" cast pan from before Branda started casting them.  It's pretty dirty from sitting around for about 45 years or so.  I thought it should be coated on the inside, since it's really porous.  I've never used one of these before, any suggestions on best cleaning methods?  Should I use the Branda oil pump pickup with it?

I spent enough time to kill three rechargeable batteries on my Makita cordless drill with a brass wire brush on it, cleaning surface rust off cast iron parts for refinishing.  Bellhousing, strut rods, spindles, coil springs, motor mounts, steering shaft, clutch fork.  Fun times in the 40 degree shop.

I picked up my rebuilt 428 long block today.  After looking at it for 19 years, finally got it redone.  Went with a nice roller cam setup, the stock dual quad intake, and scored a rare SSS finned COBRA oil pan to boot.

Looking for some feedback on the work done by Goldline Brakes in WA state.  Needing to address my '67 GT500's brakes, and just found them.

Nothing coming out of any manufacturer has sexy hip curves like the '67 Shelby Mustang.  Nothing.

Thanks for the detailed reply, Bob.  Any recommended brands of zinc phosphate or rust inhibitor products to use?  As for the semigloss black paint, I'll have my body guy spray those to match all the other parts he already did.

Thanks for the confirmation of my concern.  I'm pulling the NOS one and sending it along with the original to Dewey for rebuilding. Then I'll sell the fresh NOS one and easily recoup the cost.
