Kind of common designation on the 1968 GT/CS or California Specials.

Appeals / Re: 1969-70 Trans Am disc brake conversion.

I have sold Cobra Automotive maybe a dozen sets of big Ford car, Kelsey-Hayes 4 piston disc brake calipers and 1970 drum brake spindles over the years. I mostly found the calipers on 1966-67 Ford Thunderbird, but sometimes Lincoln.
Cobra Automotive makes the adapter bracket to fit Ford small or large drum brake spindles.
The large bearing drum brake spindles have a D0.. casting number. I used to find them on 1970 Mustang, Cougar, and B/C body Ford / Mercury cars.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: ACSCO

Tom Hooker is probably the guy to reach out to. He may have retired by now, I think that he is the president of ACSCO? You can try 818-953-2240, they are still in business.

Picture on the Mansfield site.
Manual control shift linkage is different between floor shift and column shift for automatic transmissions.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Gas Cap Part numbers

The gt500 428 cj crossflow muffler heated the gas tanks causing fires from backfire or  improper carb settings in the hot southwest heat is where most of the problems were. I have seen several gt500s that never had the recall done but they were northern cars from a much cooler climate area. On the recall the filler neck end vent indent was flattened back so a good seal was made so the not vented gas cap sealed tight to the  now completely flattened neck. This was crudly done by hand with a tool from the inside outward.

Thanks Ed,
I noticed in the Ford MPC, there is a listing for a 69/70 GT500 fuel filler neck, part number C9ZZ-9034-B.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Gas Cap Part numbers

OK, I did some research. The recall included: tap a hole into the filler neck, attach a hard line in the neck and route to the edge for the trunk safely away from the exhaust, (wheel well?) Finish by installing a non-vented fuel cap. Reason was to prevent a fire from sloshing fuel out the vented gas cap, which was directly over the exhaust tips. Probably an over generalization.
GT500 only?

The fuel cap in the lower right hand corner is the one featured in Marcus's article. It did come from a 1970 California emissions Mercury Cougar. West Coast Classic Cougar shared parts for comparison, for research in his article.

Top left cap is a OEM factory 1969 Mercury Cougar cap, also the same as 1969 GT350?
Top right cap "ANTI SURGE VENTED". Stant stamped S, has a one-way check valve built into the cap. Auto parts store replacement cap or later Ford service cap for part number C7AZ-9030-A?
Ford MPC indicates 69/70 Shelby GT350/GT500 without ev/em, Vented-anti-surge-2.47" diameter, part number C7AZ-9030-A.

Bottom left cap "PRESSURE VACUUM". Stant and Autolite marked, also has one way check valve. Different service replacement?
Bottom right cap "NOT VENTED" Stant marked, does not have one-way check valve. 2.25" diameter.

The basic power steering pump is the same 1967-73 (might go beyond 1973, I don't know).
The basic power steering pump does not include the reservoir, which makes it an assembly. Those then get tags, HEH-BH, HEH-BF, etc.

The only exception, is the 1970 power steering pump used on small block V-8's (6 cylinders?). That one year only pump had a large off set pressure fitting. Requires unique reservoirs and mounting brackets.

Roger Rodes rebuilds them.

I like the Dragon on wheels, kind of an homage to the Cobra on wheels.

Looks like Bruce Larson had an Eagle with a parachute.

On a Thunderbird Facebook page one guy shared the window sticker.  (see attached).   Cool, but it doesn't show proof of any sort of promotion or there being 10 of them.

Interesting, not sure why the ebay ad doesn't have it.

Does that invoice look a little too perfect to anyone else? My 1969 Dearborn window sticker had printing from what I always thought was a Daisy Wheel Printer. Letters and numbers not quite in alignment up and down.

Press release on the Lemay website.   https://www.americascarmuseum.org/wp-content/uploads/ACM-Bullitt-Mustang-FINAL.pdf

It is the USA car.  The one that has been on tour for a while hitting a lot of major shows.

I am planning on making the 200 mile one way trip to see it at the end of January when they also have the "Heros of Bavaria" dinner.  Should be a fun day.  Regardless, the Lemay Museum is quite a site to see and everyone should visit it at least once if they are in the area and have lots of time.

When Harold Lemay was alive, he used to have an open house on two locations in Tacoma. I was fortunate enough to take in the show. Huge collection, tremendously larger than what is in the museum by the dome. Glad that I saw it when I did.

Yes, welcome Krelboyne and thanks for posting the pics.

Were you a part of the Cougar celebration at the Detroit show?

Looking at your interior shots, I actually see some foreshadowing of the '67 Cougar standard console and dash face.

Love the "COUGAR" on the steering wheel. Is that an early Cobra steering wheel?

- Phillip

Yes, I am also known as Scott Behncke, I mostly hang out at the Concours Mustang, Cougar, and Mustang GT/CS forums.

The fellow that brought Cougar II from the museum, said that the engine was removed from the car, years ago. He didn't know what happened to the original engine, only that there wasn't money to make the car driveable since it was a museum display.
