The changeover from the early style tips to the later style tips was approx car #1600.  I have the original exhaust off of car #1637 and it has the early style tips.   Car was built 3/23/67 and has a 12/66 dated muffler.

+1 on everything Bob said.

I have quite a few original tips and original tips still attached to original exhaust systems.  Some from Mr. Gaines I'm sure.  Where did the description and photos come from on the original tips in this thread (reply #2)?  Never seen that before.

A K3 wheel was made in Philadelphia and K2 are Windsor Ontario Canada.  Without a doubt most of the 1968 Shelby wheels were K2.  Not to say that maybe a K3 didn't make it in from time to time.  There were also K1 plants and K4.  K is for Kelsey Hayes, and number is plant code.

Just made my reservation on line through the hotel website but wouldn't accept the "Group Code" 1023ISA.

And this link would not work for me https://book.passkey.com/e/50328884  had to go directly to the hotel website.

Looking forward to attending.  And proud to be a sponsor of the event along with Jason Billups (Billups Classic Cars) and Craig Jackson (Barret-Jackson Auctions).  I'm also providing some gift certificates to be handed out at the banquet event on Saturday (Nate - we need to figure this part out).

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Thanks Brent and Nate and Ed for coordinating this great event (sorry for whomever I forgot)

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 70 GT 500 muffler

Good summary Bob.  I have several sets of Terry's resonator pipes that I've picked up over the years and just keep them around for reference.  I don't think Terry every made anything except the 1969 triple-hump resonator pipes for CJ/SCJ.  No 1967/1968 2-inch, no 1968.5 GT500KR or Mustang, and no 1969 GT-350/351 W pipes.  The pipes are interesting to me because they were made by Arvin.  But there are many differences between them and the original assembly line parts.  Still cool to see.  I took a pair of Terry's today and put them in the weld fixture I use to fabricate mine and it fit very well, not perfect but very well.  Saw the original tooling used to make the resonators when I visited an old Arvin plant.  They had acres of old tooling and machines sitting outside rusting.  Some I could determine what it was for and some not.  Asked if I could walk the yard and was told "no".  Asked it I could buy it and was told "no".  Sending it to scrap.

Has anyone ever checked the original or replacement stripes against the Shelby drawing to see if they match?

My mom would be proud of me using my Math degree I got in 1985.  I also have an Aerospace Engineering degree if we want to talk lift and drag.  And Atmospheric Physics if we want to discuss the weather.
