1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Anyone know this GT500?
March 02, 2020, 01:28:06 PM
This car was very low miles, about 30K+ IIRC and very original.  I took allot of detail pictures. Here is what it looked like just after being discovered. It is a left hand drive. Wasn't a speck of rust anywhere and no evidence of accident damage. Glad it is restored and living the good life ;D

Anyone know this car? Had a chance to buy this back in 97. I was digging through some old puctures and found this. Deal fell through and it disappeared. Just curious if is around.

Ok here goes my nerdiness.....
The episode was called the doomsday machine. William Windom played Commodore Decker. He knocked it out of the park! His ship was the USS Constellation. They used the wrecked constellation to destroy the planet killer, right after Decker committed suicide in a shuttlecraft by ramming down the gullet of the machine.
I watched it primetime back in the 60's. Left a lasting impression on me of what the future could be. It was a great show!
Ok, now you can laugh😃🤣😆

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: What is driving a gt40 like?
January 28, 2020, 12:04:12 AM
Great pics! I've seen a few real Gt40s at the palm springs races. They are compact! So to be honest I've been fighting the gt40 bug for 30+ years. It has been growing in intensity for some years.  The movie really didn't spark anything more in me. I don't think the movie really made these more popular lately. This is an agonizing decision, I tell ya! I have been a car guy since I was a young kid with my matchbox cars. Now in my 5th decade I still like the noise, smell, vibrations and sensations of old, big block shelbys and mustangs, hasn't grown old yet. To me the gt40 had always been the ultimate.  My gt500 has always been 2nd on the list but more within reach,  except for now,  thanks to the recreations.
The owner of the red gt40 and I are still talking and taking our time with the deal. He is good to go but I am still not 100% with this yet. Always good to have outside opinions to think about. Thank you, keep em  coming they are very useful.

Sounds like a blast to drive if you are on your toes. Now,  if you had a 67 gt500 would you trade for a "continuation/kit"?
Or am I loosing my mind?

GT40 - Original/Mk V / What is driving a gt40 like?

Had a interesting event happen recently.  Guy pulled up next to me at the gas station in a red superformance gt40, i was in my 67 gt500. He was probably in his late 60s and kinda struggled getting out. We exchanged greetings and talked for a long time. Really great guy. Beautiful gt40! Long story short, he asked if I would be interested in a trade as he has been thinking about selling. We exchanged info and went on our ways.
2 things, I have never driven one of these so I don't know if I would like it.  The other is my 67 is my dream car and I am not sure I want to part with it,  however I would seriously consider a gt40!
What are SP cars worth? Are they uncomfortable like panteras? What are the pros and cons?
Just looking for some insight.

WOW, got about halfway through and just couldn't take anymore!!
My wife is very pro female, we have spirited discussions!
However, she was a big wig with Chase bank and liked to promote women first until she came across some bad female apples. We talked about that. I told her to scrap that way of thinking and take the best qualified for for the position. She scoffed at me initially....until I needed a painter in my resto shop....a good looking girl applied. My wife had strong words for me, saying she is a shoe in because her cup size. My reply was I could care less who or what they are as long as they can do the job! (She turned out to be a great asset to the shop and actually could lay color down like glass!) I used it as a great example to my wife and she has opened her eyes a little more to true equality.
Hannah sounds like one of those women who would rather bitch and complain about how things are and not put forth effort to step up and better herself and make good for the collective. What a waste of energy sniveling about the past. With an attitude like hers, she will be left behind.

I was doing some digging around my Shelby stuff and ran across this article from 9/20/86. Free press from riverside .ca. thought I would share.

Florida Region SAAC / Re: Movie, Ford vs Ferrari

Went to the first showing today.  Besides many details and typical Hollywood fluffed up exaggerations it was a really good movie! IMAX definately the place to see it. Got my heart pounding and got me pumped up! Kinda like watching Rocky then exiting the theater thinking you could fight anybody🤣🤣
Going to see it again Sunday!!

Til death do us part! I used to dream of having a 67 gt500. But they were crazy expensive for a 12YO,  :D. Walls were covered with magazine pictures. Didn't know how I would ever afford one until that"one day" when it fell In my lap and it was within my budget.  Havnt looked back since! I have no kids and my nephews and nieces could care less about old cars.  I told my wife that when I go horizontal to sell both mach 1s, the Boss 351 and Shelby and donate all proceeds to our favorite charities. No arguments over money that way!
