This is a great thread. Richstang and Honker you're really to be commended IMO.
Shades of the 'old' forum.
(Wish I had something to contribute!)

Downright bitchin.

Thank you Brant.
What about the facing side per chance?
I've got a Carryover in the shop with presumably original wheels.
The inside is smooth w/o a beadlock, however the facing side is a countoured beadlock.

Pics below show:
- the Carryover rim which is almost too shiney to discern;
- a wheel depiction showing similar beadlock contouring on the  wheel face side to the Carryover rim; and
- a 1964 Crager S/S. This early Crager clearly is without beading/ contouring on the inside nor the outside.

Do original Shelby Cragers have a contoured safety beadlock on the facing side w/o an inside safety bead unlike the early Crager S/S which has neither?

Would anybody, by chance, have a pic of an original Crager without the the safety beadlock?
Thanks

The 'seller' lists a number of SAI cancelled checks.
Could these have had their origin in the boxes of then forlorn SAI docs 'found' in Gardena in 1976-1977ish timeframe?
You know, the ones that have been hoarded and made 'experts' and 'registrars' out of those who tease us occasionally with their contents?

Re the Las Vegas and the Boulder: to me they are polar opposites.
The Boulder museum is packed PACKED with significant cars (thanks to the Millers). If there is a complaint it would be that so many are so close that it's hard to give each the contemplation that one may want to do. The prototype GT-40s are stupendous.  I was there for the show earlier this year. Show 'so-so', museum fantastic.
The Las Vegas, well I can't argue that everyone has to go and make their observations. No significant cars. Zip. Tour guide: nice person- had minimum knowledge. I did not dare say I've had a 65 forever, it would have been awkward and I was a guest. Would not make time to go back, but it's part of the 'Shelby' world I guess.

A solid 65 driver, 1974-1975, could be had for $3500~. The LA Times, then, and for many years after, had a 'Shelby' section in the regular classifieds including many Cobra drivers. R model GT-350s were very hagged out from club racing, autocrossing and cumulative damage did not command a premium, I shopped some which were totally thrashed, thinking 'who in world would ever want this?'
There are members on this board who bought 65's for less than $500.

Two young men lost their lives here.
There is something unseemly, if not revulsive, about this opportune cast of characters, their transparent stories and the co-opting of this horrible circumstance for a few shekels and the chance to drive a 'Cobra' on the cheap. All it took was a little 'integrity'.
No one is fooled here.

The Cobra Experience Museum purported this as CSX 3232?
Could this be 'true'? Perhaps a McCluskey??
(this makes the recent beat down of CSX 3016 look mild)

I don't think I have ever looked under a 1967 Shelby Mustang, I've been cloistered in the 1965 GT-350 world. :o
What I do know from the 1965 world is that era photos have consistently been the most accurate source in dispelling and enlightening in areas of confusion. Since all of these cars in this one picture have primer noses I would hope my 1967 colleagues would be keeping an eye open for a production line photos w painted noses perhaps.
Love those 67s though, especially w the centered lamps! Cheers!!

If you look closely at the pic you can see that all if the cars had primer noses, i.e. none of them were pre-painted prior to install (for all of those mentally gifted such as myself!).

Stephen,
I did not mean to infer that Bill DenBeste had passed. Sorry for any confusion induced. It was my belief that the owner of this car prior to being in Bill's showroom. Perhaps I'm incorrect? Pls advise.
Thanks

Very nice car.
I believe it has been in Denbeste's since the owner passed away (?).
Too bad pics aren't of higher resolution.
I've heard (but haven't verified) that it is a Conover restoration.
Note the 6" wheels.
