There was a Bob Key who owned 5S176 with whom I was in COCOA OC with back in the 70s. Pretty notable guy. Ran the Cannonball Run with it. It's High Performance Motors CA black license plates were serialized with mine.
But I thought he was in Vietnam 67-68 (?).

My car arrived at SAI on 9 May.
It has a March balancer on a 28 April build engine (I've never seen an April stamped balancer...anyone?).

Let's not forget the 1970 429 Cobra Jet D0Of-E OEM carburetor. Which was a Rochester Quadrajet w a Ford part number!
(sorry for thread drift)

We're talkin Leda Lane. Early 70s. when Ron pulled the garage roof down w a block-and-tackle, but the FE wasn't hurt!

Stood in The Freight Train's pit many times at Irwindale (along w The Odd Couple - it's nemesis).
Enjoyed the sights and sounds. Who'd a thought there was all this family drama?

Quite a hit job on the Dad, heck he might have had a different version?? poor guys

Is Nordan still around?

From the outside looking in, he led the dream life, especially as a young man.
To have such hands-on respect w the GT-40 teams and then to work at TRACO at the height of both programs was really something.
Rest In Peace.

If you're gonna forge a VIN restamp it's best to obtain a stamp set with the same font as Ford used, and then to rack it with the correct interval.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: C8FE block
August 14, 2021, 10:21:10 AM

The C8FE block continued to the D1ZE block which I believe was its final Ford produced iteration.
Any comments on the C8FE's further engineering changes which resulted in the D1ZE?
Did the D1ZE have a thicker deck?

Yes Gurney Heads are what they ran. Great SB Ford history there if you're ever killing time. Only car to will LeMans twice was GT40P-1075 - both wins Gurney Heads.

The gulf cars ran inline valves on Gurney-Weslake heads. Never seen a period GT-40 w canted-valve Boss 302-yet.
