I built one similar to this back in the day ( 69-70? ). I used several sets of forks cut and slide one into the next set and welded. Not nearly as much rake as the one in the photo. Cool but handled like S**T. I scraped those forks real soon. Then built one that had a mono shock rear suspension. I think Yamaha stole My idea.

LOL, Yea we built the chopper bikes in a regular since though ;D

My older Brother did do a chopper with the original forks in the original position then fitted the add on forks in the opposite direction. Actually worked quite well but we lived on a 1/2 mile dirt/some gravel driveway and of course wiping out was routine :o

So we'd end up slowly getting to main paved road, then it was on!! Down to the swimming hole 8)

We'll always remember those days, I cherish mine Constantly ;)

It sure doesn't look like Schwinn worked very hard to defend their design patent.  Lots of imitators in those days.

And how did GM's lawyers let Schwinn get away with using the "Stingray" name?
