Taillight / Brakelight / LED's / Turnsignal Switch / Scoop Lights

As many of you know, the stock Ford turn signal switch has a tough time keeping up with the amp draw from 6 taillight/brakelight bulbs and with early cars, add in the sccop lights.   My inquiry is to ask if anyone has tried to use 1157 LED bulbs for the rear lights and if so, what were the results?   Did it require changing out the flasher as well?

I've gone through 2 reproduction switches and finally found an NOS Ford unit and it seems to function fine, but would hate to keep "ponying" up the money for additional NOS units.

If you have experience / thoughts / recommendations, I would appreciate and value the insight.

Thanks

I went through the same issues with #0022 when I had her.  I went through multiple turn signal switches as well - supremely frustrating.  Finally, I found a good repop that worked; which is this one below, FYI:

The NOS switch should do the trick.  Unfortunately, some of the repop turn signals are not made that well; which leads to many issues.  Side note - I got REALLY good at removing and installing wiring pins on the block connector at the base of the steering column  ;).

Hope this helps!

Yes. It helps dramatically. You can also be seen. They are a great safety addition.

Here is the tool to properly disassemble the turn signal terminal block along with many others on your Shelby.

If you want to see the plasma bulbs on my Shelby PM your cell. I'll send the video to you.

NPD offers both the tool for terminal removal as well as the Drake Repop turn signal switch mentioned above.

This is great - many thanks!  I didn't even know these bulbs existed.
