I didnít think C.S. started underlining his autograph until later years?

McQueen must rate, the 'ole man' put on fancy duds just for him?

Wonder what's up with what appears to be a 2bbl SBF in the shop?

The original 260 engine in Brock's Ranchero?

The replacement engine for inline six in the shop Econoline?

Agreed.  Not in anything (supposedly) dated that far back that I've ever seen.

What a cool color photo.

Amazing how racing safety has evolved. Even in the late 80's/early 90's when I raced circle track, I'd never have raced without at least my fire suit and helmet:o

One rollover in that beast CS is in, would spell tragedy!!  It most likely wouldnt be a fire that'd get him, he'd be crushed to certain death!!

BTW, Like his number change to 18, that was my racecar # ;D

Thanks for posting Tony. What a tradegy. Back then, folks didn't think safety like we do today.

Just notice all the videos with spectators standing out on the grass only feet from the track watching cars zoom by at 150+mph.

Even the flagmen standing right in the middle of the inside and outside lanes of a start of a race with racecars zooming by at speed!!

Crazy!!

LOL, it's exciting but I want a fence between me and the race ;D

I remember back in the mid/late 80's when we went to the Daytona 500 pretty regular, we sat on the back stretch in the old wooden bleachers.  We could get down next to the fence going into turn 3 and "feel" the Nascar drivers go by at 200mph, it would pull you to the fence from the suction!!

Now that was excitment 8)

Wonder what's up with what appears to be a 2bbl SBF in the shop?

Plenty of question you can come up with when you look at old shop pictures. Have a picture of a stack of  small block Fords oll in storage at H & M - basically a wall of them each on a pallet. All all 2V with distributors with mechanical tack drives. Best we could figure they made a group purchase from Ford for what would be come or were built as small blocks for possibly marine applications  - reason for the mechanical tach drives

We'll never knwo the story on some of this stuff
