Photos to files?

I have quite a few old school pictures. Has anyone used a service to convert to digital?

Today its so easy with a good scanner I  did it some weeks ago with my brother scanner and I was more than surprised how good they came out on the pc.

What is really cool are those flatbed scanners looks like a copy machine but its a scanner you can do a lot with these. My scanner is also nice because I can take 30 photos and then go in the kitchen eat something and in the meantime it will take pic per pic for the scan. I think some of the "nerds" here can help you what to buy.
