So I have a 66 Shelby Hertz with automatic built March of 66. It has its original Autolite carb. It does not have the dashpot. Is it supposed to?

I would think yes.

Do you know if the carb is the original, does the date code on the carb correspond with the completion date of the car?

Yes, the Autolite carb is original to the car. It has a February or March 66 date. I am not near the car today to see the date on the tag.
