Hertz dealership Image from 60's
« on: January 10, 2021, 02:01:19 PM »
Looking for vintage pictures of 60's Hertz dealerships. Need for background of proposed IN SAAC t-shirt design.
Would prefer outside shots--not inside airport---.

Thanks

Brent

Hi Brent,

I have three postcards, that show HERTZ rental agencys back in the time of the GT350H.  Do you have them?  If not I can scan and send.  IIRC they are:

1)  Tucson Arizona
2)  Miami Florida
3)  Altoona PA  (  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Altoona-PA-Hertz-System-Licensee-Rent-A-Car-Garage-Truck-Postcard-/274584312326?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=O%252FC7gGkEYbBmKnrBlfAHZM8LWOs%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc  )

The images are not really that exciting to see, but their addresses do match the addresses in the 1965 HERTZ Directory.  These sites were not the prime locations for renting the GT350H's, however, I expect the cars did end up at these locations from rental returns and then rented out of those site.

See link below for Tucson and Miami postcards:

Hope that helps.

Cory, the Miami building would be perfect.
Yes, I could use the scanned image.

Do you already have this image which was found online. I have no idea the location of the photo though.

Yes, I already have that one.
Seems like that was taken at corporate headquarters.

Hi Brent,

Corporate Head Quarters was at 660 Madison Ave., New York 21, N.Y.  I am guessing, but the 21 might be the 21st floor.  This address was take from a HERTZ NEWS press release dated 1-6-66.

There were other address on the NEWS release, 300 E 44th St. New York, 108 N State St. Chicago and 3440 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles.  None of these other address revealed anything that looks like the image, but it has been 54 years.  IIRC, someone earlier suggested maybe a major airport HERTZ agency.

There is this pic that was published in Sports Car Graphic.

Too small (plus screened to print in a magazine) to be used on a shirt but worth looking for an original print.

This must have been sent out to car enthusiast magazines at that time as part of a press release.
