Steve McDonald Formally known as Mcdonas

I will have mine 50 years next December. You should write a story for the Shelby American, everyone would love to hear about the good times, the bad times, the highs and lows of owning anything that long, but especially a Shelby
So write it up and send it over to Rick Kopec, he'll pick it apart and reassemble it so it's ready for publication. Might even make the cover and how cool would that be.
Can't wait to read it
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

Gee, I feel like a real youngun with only 43 years of ownership.  Bought mine on September 2, 1977.  I was 23.  The car didn't run that well when i got it for which I'm somewhat greatfull, otherwise I might have done serious damage to myself and the car.

Well I just looked at my first post and realized that I had typed a 9 instead of a 7 for the year that I had my car painted they did not have any color codes you just picked a color from the color chart that they showed us my friends and I chose British racing green it is still wearing it today

Sleeping Shelby has been that way because---22 years old. Girls. Beer. No anti freeze. Engine stolen from machine shop. Transmission loaned to a friend. Lack of funds to do it justice. --- Now it's time for a 482 tunnel port, toploader, freshened interior. Pictures soon.

^^^ I fully understand!  Some things can take priority at that age, even above having a super cool car (well...maybe not.)

I blew up the 427 S-O in my KR on Willow Springs in Oct '83.   Only took until Oct 2014 to get it back on the road again.  31 years.

In the interim, I trailered it to four houses I'd moved to, then sold it, regretted it, and tracked down the owner after 12 years to buy it back.  Fortunately, he'd done nothing at all to the car except store it indoors, so it was exactly as I'd left it.

Congrats on keeping your car safe all these decades, and making the decision to get 'er back into running condition.  That first roar of the new engine start-up will be time travel for you.

Do you mind sharing your last 4 VIN#'s?

I have 0875

I am just curious about some combinations. I thought Parchment was in black, Nightmist, and DMG and grey cars only. Always learning new stuff tho.

1551  very few  white on white if you will.  April car. Thanks

I saw that. Being curious, I looked 1551 up in the registry. Sounds like it spent it's entire lifetime here.

I have to believe Wimbledon White over Parchment is very very rare. Very cool that you are putting her back together.

It looks like your car has been off the radar screen since the late 60's. Very cool to have it (and you) surface now.
