« on: February 05, 2021, 07:14:55 PM »
It is looking like Indiana SAAC will be having another Fall Classic for Oct. 2021. Organizing this event has just begun, but we are trying to do it again.
Same location as last year--- French Lick, Indiana.

Let us know what you all think.

Brent, is this in addition to, or in lieu of, the Spring Fling?

We dont have much choice on when to book this show since a big rollover from all of last year cancellations are booking this year at french lick now. Hopefully we can have a bigger better show this year without all the covid restrictions we had to deal with last year. The fall color season will be in full swing and the hot weather will be gone and we can have more cars in the big building this year without restrictions on how many people can be in the building also. We are hoping and planning on this show happening since by october  everyone should have there vaccine shots by then and wont have to worry about all the cancellations like last year so people can start making plans shortly.  Also if it is raining u can still unload your car inside the big building in the corner there is a big loading unloading area between the 2 big garage doors so weather wont be a factor. Last year many cars outside chose to stay out of the covered garage because the weather was so nice outside but if it rains there is plenty of room in the covered garage that is connected to the big building and u can walk to your room from there without ever getting wet the way this place is set up its all connected even to the casino. There will be a board meeting feb 13th and will know more after meeting.

The Fall Classic will be in addition to the Spring Fling.
Planning for the 44th Spring Fling is well under way. T-shirt design is complete,
and final planning meeting is coming up soon.

How many cars or people are interested in coming this fall?  It would be nice to know how many people are interested in coming before the meeting next Feb 13th since after that a contract will be wrote up and as of now the only dates available are oct, 20 21 22 and that is also fall break week for many schools and the peak of the fall color season in beautiful southern indiana haha!   As of now (if we have this show) there wont be concours judging at spring fling and tulsa mid america meet instead it will be combined together at the fall meet and we will be using the mid america judging system again like last fall here and judging will be on  lifts again as its the only way to really see the whole car with lights and the car owner can see what the judges are looking at.  We want  this show to be a friendly learning experience for all involved as last year there were many car people around the cars while on the lift asking questions and taking photos to help them on there restorations. We werent expecting 20 concours cars to show up last year even thou some had cancelled for various reasons and we tried to make the best show we could throwing this show together after so many other cancelled events last year and not being sure we could be shut down also. This year we can plan better and have plenty of time and line up judges in advance as last year some judges were afraid to travel due to covid. Also last year some activities and attractions in the area were shut down but this year we think all will be open being in the fall. Also we can get a big group discount on the rooms in both hotels. So we really need to know how many people are interested to start planning this event so post here or contact the people involved ASAP  OK?

Just so everyone knows  at this time the only dates we got offered is october 20 21 22  and thats a wed thur fri  show so those who travel a long distance can be home by sunday without taking any days off of work the next week.  When u have a fri sat sun event people who travel  from far west have a hard time getting home in time to work on monday AM.  The mid week room rates are cheaper than the weekend rates at these resorts also.  Guys with family can make a vacation week trip since its fall break week and there is so much to do in that area for the whole family to enjoy and patoka lake. parke co covered bridge festival. brown county park.  spring mill park. holiday world in santa claus in. are close by so plenty for the family to do and enjoy the peak fall color season on your drive. You can read about last years show  in the january mustang times magazine 4 page story called Concours in French Lick  with many great photos in the article to see how the show was set up.

Huge success last fall with this show and I believe I could speak for everyone in attendance that they had a great time with this one. As Ed said we had 20 concours cars and nearly 40 special feature cars. Would love to do the same this year as far as concours cars and double the special features as the building can hold 100 give or take a few. Also large covered area just outside the pavilion to hold even more. Great area that has plenty to offer for all ages. Cannot wait!
