1969-70 Vert black seats.
« on: March 10, 2021, 12:35:41 PM »
So I'm looking at a 69 B2 on BaT. It has 4A bucket seats which are the comfortweave with no red stripe. So why does Ford list a separate 7A "deluxe" bucket seat that  the Verts used? So is there a difference? They look the same to me(Shelby buckets and B2 4A buckets) or was it the hardware attached to mount the vert that designated the 7A(black)? Thanks

They are not supposed to. I have seen 1(highest vinned GT500 vert in Pastel Gray/Blue 2nd owner bought in 1974) and I thought mine was another but apparently mine may have been changed out according to the second owner. Gary

Are they both comfortweave?  Convertibles in 68 didn't usually get the comfortweave.  I have no idea about 69s.

69’s are different then 68’s in that regard.

There is a "survivor" Boss 302 on BaT that has the comfortweave seats. What I have figured out  for black seats are 1A grande deluxe seats. 2A are standard headrest seat. 3A Comfortweave with red stripe mach1, 4A comfortweave with no red stripe. FA says Deluxe convertible. There was not a standard high back standard seat in 69 like there was in 70 Mustangs. There are other variants in the letter and number chain for bench seats and such and the highest in my literature says "D". No "F" mentioned.

Tor
When I bought my vert in 1985 out of France I would have sworn since it came from there my red stripe seats were original by the patina and "sun wear" on them. Ask Bob or Ed they will tell you I was pretty sure they were original. Now the highest # 69-70 Shelby GT500 vert has red stripe seats. I knew the owner who purchased it off the back lot of the Ford dealership he was a porter at for 500 bucks while still in HS. No reason for a 5 year old car to have the seats changed out. So I thought mine too. All period photos of my car didn't have a good enough angle to see the seats in color. Second owner told me not long ago after seeing a pic of my interior with my Grand Daughters in it that he thought it didn't have the red stripes on the seats when he owned in (71-75 approx). After blowing up a pic with a model sitting in it in B&W it appears the stripe area is black(black and red are close). So I am wondering still why the "7" designation on Shelby verts for the seats?

I have a 70 shelby vert with the redstripe seats and have seen it before on several 69-70 shelby verts and i think its just an assembly line mistake or a seat inventory problem since the shelbys  all had deluxe interior like the mach1s going down the same assembly line. I have seen red stripe seats on 69 boss 429s also and they have deluxe interior also and i seen hand written across a 69 invoice saying  ( ok red stripe seats) wrote on the invoice on one of these cars so was it a supply problem or a mistake ?

Thanks Ed, I think you remember that pastel Gray 70 GT500 vert by me had the red striped seats in it. Error then is like the shift knob error also. Gary

No red stripe on seats =black. Unless you are talking about body stripes on his car.

I have never seen Gray on a 1969 original seat. Ed Meyer, where are you? Gray is common on a 1970 seat. Maybe rare on a 69? Gary
