Gentlemen- were the rear stump painted black? Or natural with the Cragars?

The picture is my drums after restored with no paint -

TO add - normally just the face  with a large brush , except for what every drips and drabs made their way onto the other side surfaces during the sloppy application

Given that the wheels will likely be mounted that will likely do. If you do it again you might want to wait for them to be mounted on the rearend as originals appear to show that the brush did not pass over the holes where the studs stick through suggesting that that they were mounted.  On some runs are visible traveling down the face as if they were mounted also.
