I don't recall seeing this van 'recreation' in the movie, but the article suggests it was...

Just out of curiosity I ran thru the movie real quick and found the van in several spots, but you have to be quick.
At 10:50, 34:44, 34:53, 55:33

I wonder what CDs Ken Miles liked listening to on the way to the track.

Cool vehicle.

4 tracks or AM radio. Top of the line was a Muntz Bluelight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madman_Muntz#4-track_cartridge

Randy Richardson of LASAAC sold all the cars after the movie. He's going to end up being the go to guy for info going forward.

ADDED: One thing to remember all movie companies buy the cheapest POS they can find and dress it up for the movie. Don't expect anything more than a 30 point restoration. Only the hero cars look good under 10 feet.

Sorry for lack of context... you have to click through to the auction site photos to clearly see it is fitted with a modern CD player deck.  Just seemed an odd choice considering everything else tries to look period correct.  I do like the vehicle.  If I had unlimited space...

If it was in there when they bought it for the movie they would have left it the option was a big hole in the dash somebody hacked in to install it. If it wasn't to be used for any interior shots it didn't matter. There would be a shot list for each car as to which scene it was going to be in and the angle of the car. I've seen them use cars where whole sides were crashed but it didn't matter as they used the good side in the movie.

At least they didn't replace the cigarette lighter with USB port.

This was a nicely done Driving School van clone at the last Indy SAAC. 1963 Viking Blue & Corinthian White

The original van ran on '66 ten spokes and 6.95x14 Blue Streaks whenever I saw it. John Timanus was the driver and I doubt Miles ever rode it it.
Celebrating 46 years of drag racing 6S477 and no end in sight.
