I found the part number for the washers in the 1965 Shelby American parts book page 76
359566-S8B. S8 stands for Zink (dark silver)
Don't know if this is the correct one as I could not find anything in the AMK catalog.

That number decodes as #4 size,  .125 ID , .500 OD ,  .047 thick ,Steel.

Thanks Bob,
Will try to measure the ones on my car.

Don't dare to remove a washer because of the risk to break the mounting stud but a rough
estimate of the size seems to match Bob's measurements.

those are just service replacements, you will find an assembly line C4 in a fomoco box, at least all the ones I have found NOS over the years.

The main difference are the diameter of the pins. C8 marked emblem has fat pins and the C4 skinny. It was easy to break the skinny C4 emblems pins. I assume that is the reason for the change of pin diameter on the C8 emblem. Unlike other Mustangs the emblem used in the grill on a GT350 are easy to distinguish as replacement fat or skinny genuine given they are in full view seen from back side of the grill. At least easy to tell once you know the difference.

Many years ago (more than 20) I found the C4 emblem I have on my car at  Carlisle for $20.
The guy I bought it from had two for sale but stupid as I am I only bought one. At the same swap I found two boxes of
Autolite spark plugs with the star on them. They were the only one left in a large box marked 1965. Bought both of them for
$50 each. Still have them today and have used one on my car.

Don't want to get into the weeds here, but the earlier C4 emblems usually have much more detail in the horse, particularly in the head area.

+1 the eye indentition is very pronounced and the colors are a different tone also.

not all have a washer on every pin. (the emblem was never removed)

Roman,
Thanks for the picture. It makes perfect sense to have washers on the two pins that are invisible from the front only.
It doesn't look good to see the washers from the front.

Another question about the grill emblem,
Was there a variance on exactly where, on the grill, the emblem was placed.
Wonder if the installer at SA measured where to place it  or if it was placed at random.
