1966 GT350 - Facebook Marketplace
« on: June 07, 2021, 11:38:26 AM »
This was posted on Facebook marketplace over the weekend.  I imagine it is too late to buy this now.  Seller says he has over 100 messages, but I still thought it would be fun to share and check out.   Proof that they are still out there..... too bad this one wasn't stored inside over the years.  I don't have any other details or VIN information.  If someone knows more about it, please share.

Tragic is all can say.
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

If that is in Upstate NY, then yeah....its bad. Why on Earth do people use FB?
I think a San Jose car is in someone's future, that is the only way I can see a car with that number being called a "Shelby" with no lie detector attached.

Looks like someone might be paying at least $60K for it based on the message I received when I inquired.

"Making a list of seriously interested buyers to review with the owner of the car. If you are interested I’d need your a Phone number. Price range right now is $40-60k for offers we have received. If you’d be interested in that price range pending inspection of the car in person I can have the owner contact you. Thanks"

I think it will buff out  ;D
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

The question remains, is it a real Shelby

I asked him what it was going to take to buy it, and to not use my offer to bring to the next guy to get more.

So he gave me a number in the 70s, I asked for more information and pictures, gave him my phone number and email address and still no reply.

It must be original.  I has original wheels.  LOL.  It is hard to trust the other elements of the description if the seller can't identify the wheels correctly.

Ad description:

"HAVE OVER 100 MESSAGES. It will take me a while to answer. Offers are above 50 grand. This is the Real deal! 1966 Shelby Gt-350. All numbers matching on the car, engine and transmission. Original wheels. Lots of good original Shelby parts. Been outside a while but was in a barn 20 years before that. No tire kickers and no lowballs. Need real serious buyers or collectors on this one. Make a reasonable offer!"

Assuming it is legit, should it be saved or parted out?  Saving will cost a fortune.  Parting out may help other owners of original cars.

Ok here is the run down after taking to owners rep. It looks legit and it is 6S1764. The bad thing is the original tag is gone and it’s rusted. From the pics I have seen it looks like it would be a tough save and need a donor car. Really sad but I am not sure what it’s future holds….
